Gav's modem was dropping out so he asked me to post his reply on his behalf ;
1. Earliest pinball memory?
I have many, but my fondest are the ones of playing Whirlwind with my mates at Timezone Modbury and Black Knight at the Kersbrook Tavern as a teen.
2. All time favorite pin? Why?
This changes from day to day and week to week depending on my mood. Currently Monster Bash and Spiderman, or maybe Attack from Mars and T2, hang on it's actually Indy and Meteor.... nup I can't decide.... they are all great
3. Favorite pinball manufacture?
Most of my pins have been Williams or Bally so I guess it can be either of these. That said I am not predjudice against any manufacturer as every one has had something significant to offer us all.
4. Favorite game in your collection? Why?
See question 2???
5. How long have you been collecting?
Only about 4-5 years, but have been a life long fan.
6. First game and how did you find it?
IJ. It was an interesting story as a local distributer/operater had a pinball sale and mislisted the Indy for $2995 in an advert. I started ringing them at 6am and got through at about 8am. I told them I wanted the pin straight away and I would call them back that morning with the payment. I spoke to the business owner and he acknowledged that the price was an error in listing but that he would honour the price. He delivered the pinball personally a week or so later and it has been bulletproof ever since, great machine, great price thumb
7. Do you still have it?
Oh yeah. It will never leave my collection and is my wifes favourite ever pinball.
8. What are you currently working on?
Where I am going to squeeze the next one into my gameroom naughty
9. Most wanted game to add to your collection?
Whirlwind, LOTR(original), AFM, MM, or T2. Whatever I can find out of my target list that is in good nick.
10. Best all time bargain game added to your collection?
Probably the IJ if based on price only. I have been happy with most of my purchases and am thankfull to have got many machines in great condition.
11. Worst ever miss – tell us about the one that got away!
TOTAN in great condition that now sits at a mates house. MM, with same mate Cry
12. Worst ever purchase – tell us about the game you wished you never bought
RFM from an Op in Sydney that whilst it had a fantastic playfield it took me alot of work to get up to my standard. After all my effort I sold the pinball at a loss. Was happy with the sale as I gave the buyer a real nice pin in the end, and helped a local start up a collection. My loss was his gain and I do not regret selling it in this circumstance.
13. Describe your collection
Ever growing. Currently seven pinballs, a Daytona Twin and a Muliti-game arcade. Has a bar and lot's of decorations. The heart of our house:)
14. Describe your gamesroom
See 13
15. Do you have other games other than pinball?
Yep the Daytonas and the arcadey bizzo thingy
16. Where can you see the hobby in 10 years
For me, No doubt it will be going strong. I don't think I will ever get sick of this hobby/way of life/obsession. I love everything about pinball from the sheer beauty of them, the rush of a great ball, the sounds, the lights, the joy of seeing your efforts in restoring, cleaning and maintaining them, right through to the people that you meet with likeminded interests from all walks of life. The pins, the parties the pleasure of the Silverball.
LONG LIVE PINBALL!
