ANY HELP WITH SORTING AND STORING PINBALL ICS?

As the title say im trying to sort out and store all my spare ICs so i can easily find them so i dont keep ordering more of the same any hints on how others do this would be great

If they come in thier antistatic tubes then label the tube and keep em in that and then they wont get crushed.

Otherwise get some velostat or similar type of conductive foam from Jaycar or Altronics.

Also any companies that sell ICs will usually have spare tubes that they can probably give to you.

 Also, create a spreadsheet so that you can quickly look up what you have and don't have.

Bunnings have these handy cases which are available.

They have small removable compartments which are great for storage.   I just write on them in text as to whats in it!

My lovely wifey is in charge of them and she sorts stuff out when they arrive!

Got to Jaycar and buy the plastic organisers. Mine has 32 drawers (or compartments). I store mine in antistatic bags, sorted by component type and value. Every time I place an order, I sift through the drawers. I have around 10 of the organisers.

  I do have mine in the foam sheet from jaycar which is cut to fit in my organiser drawers

 I also have them organisers  set up like marty

But  the idea of the spread sheet is a great idea.  Every time i buy parts to fix a machine i always order a heap more than i need for next time.  I got another delivery to work the other day and the wife had a small whinge "  YOU MUST HAVE A MILLION DOLLARS IN SPARE PARTS BY NOW"    Not a million but if she new what it was all worth id be shot for sure LMFAO


How do you seperate the chips?   I have mine sorted into 74 series in one draw 40series in another then just a Misc draw etc?

Costly but good.

I have several of these with the components labelled ;

that large bottom left draw looks like a 'ill sort these out one day' draw.
they start with a couple of items and grow and grow until it would take a whole day to sort them.
I hate these draws as i never seem to get around to sorting them out.

That bottom drawer is the "one day I'll sort it out drawer" - The other bottom drawer is for 6800, 6810 etc.
