That's for sure. A few of us were lucky enough to see this playfield in person a couple of weeks back, when it was just in prep with a first "levelling" coat of clear. The way the colours came out compared to what I handed Tim a few weeks earlier were astounding.

I'm trying to get a playfield back from the US that has been with PFR for four years (they are sorting now). They never finished it, but I'm sure keen to get it back and a place in Tim's queue for completion!!

I know i say this a bit, but i really do appriciate the kind words. It makes posting very 'easy' when i know people are genuinely interested, and i hope you guys are picking up some tips along the way.

Thought i would post another small update, as there wont be many more before the playfield is packaged carefully, and sent back to Nick.

Here we go with todays happenings...

Yellow was next to be matched and applied. Here it is ready to go in my favourite brush...


These were the problem areas that needed to be addressed...

With areas masked, paint was applied as required...


Left until tack is reduced and mask is removed...

This is how the field is shaping up. A few more colours to go, and insert decals. This should be a very nice playfield when finished, and i hope Nick and Nug are happy with it too (thats what is really important).

I really like the updates and the paint being applied. Gives me some confidence in trying something that is second nature for some of you guys !

Amazing results and I'm sure Nick and Nug will be more than pleased !

Final few colours are going down.

Here is the green masked up...


And applied...


Lower yellow was finished out...


Light blue matched, masked and refinished...


Lower...


Upper areas...(dark blue yet to be applied)


Playfield is looking brighter and brighter. Once the red and dark blues are down, i can sharpen everything up with the black outlines...


More updates to come...

Hey guys,

Thanks for the kind words, sorry i havent been getting back to questions straight away...

The masking is called frisket, most art shops that stock air brushing supplies should carry it...

Paint is full pigment, water based acrylic - i personally use Jo Sonjas as i have had nothing but success with them.

Playfield has been cleared (again), and all major art reworks have been locked in.

Cleared...


Here is an overview, i need to get into the fiddly bits (such as the made in USA that hides under the apron). Timber looks really nice though...


I'll let this set up a few days, and finish off the art work...
