Getaway HSII multiball fix
« on: September 15, 2010, 03:10:46 AM »
I don't know if this is a commonly known fix but I thought I would put it up anyway.

If you own a Getaway HSII then the chances are better than average that you have a problem with the machine not releasing all the balls for multiball.
What usually happens is it will release the first ball but not the rest until it does a ball search after the first ball has drained.
The problem is the coil activated post that retains the balls.
This guy gets sloppy with time and when the balls are on the wire form they no longer register as the balls are out of alignment.
I have heard some punters just change the coil sleeve but this doesn't always fix the problem (didn't on my Getaway).
Anyway all you need is a flipper bush and three self tapper screws.

You need to modify the bush a little but it's quite easy to do.

The hard part is getting into here. What a pain in the arse!

Just slip it over and make sure you have a little bit of clearance for adjustments

Just make sure when you screw it down you have a firm grip and you pull it back towards the back box abit.
Don't screw it down too hard though. Make it firm, just not super tight, otherwise the post will bind up.

I forgot to take some before pics but you can see in the pic below that the switches are now sitting right at the apex of the balls.

Now she's running sweet as.
No more frustration with my balls. :lol   #*#

How neat is that!! I am thinking that idea might be useful on a lot of other games that use a post in a similar fashion - great tip to keep in mind.

Great Tip

Just a suggestion though, those balls look about ready to be replaced, they are quite scratched from what i can see.

I actually have new (relatively) balls in this pin.
The ones pictured are some old ones I was using for testing the switches.
Well spotted :)
