Two new games - pics
« on: November 09, 2010, 08:01:12 PM »

I discovered I could fit 2 x SS games in my ute today , a nice tight squeeze but they got home safely  ^^^

So the Joker Poker is gunna need a little work.
I have seen worse.

Has an average BG - faded like most AND crazing in the white cards.
I 'hear' a repro may get done one day - until then I hunt and I try and fix as best I can.

Playfield has some heavy 'bumper wear' BUT this is OK as I want to try my airbrush skills in area's like this.

Hopefully this will come up nice - but I plan to take my time with this one.
Also going to do a cab re-spray on this.
Somone sprayed the headbox frame black anyway , so that needs fixing.

Mystic is in BLOODY good condition.
The only 'iffy' bit is the bottom of the right side of the BG.
I have seen this on another Mystic as well.

well done mate.

the artwork on the MYSTIC backglass, has artwork very stylish like TALES ARABIAN NIGHTS and THETRE OF MAGIC had designed years later. You can definately see that influence used years later. probably the same artist ?

also, the eye with the pyramid, which is on the top of the playfield, along with the pop bumper cap designs, is also a prelude to what was later used on TWILIGHT ZONE.

its good to see how those ideas, all on the MYSTIC machine, were later used to great sucess with BALLY'S later releases.

Cant wait to see these 2 x machines all done up.  ^^^ ^^^ ^^^

Mate, the "ALL SEEING EYE" or the "EYE OF PROVIDENCE' .. also "EYE OF GOD"  has been around for thousands of years... its also on every US$ bill. Its quite commonly used when people want to depict something of a mystical nature. The eye inside a pyramid or even a triangle is one of the best known ancient symbols....

.... LOl- just had to clear that up

Got the Joker Poker on its legs today and thought I would grab some detailed pics.
I have a little work in front of me with this one.

Also - only owning 1 System One game in the past I forgot that the backbox had rails on the back that went 'past' the bottom edge.
I put the backbox to one side on my concrete garage floor , standing upright.
I then placed a VERY light box on top of it and turned back to the main cabinet to start to attach the legs.
I heard a BIG bang  ^&^

The backbox had fallen FACE FIRST and hit the conrete.
Even though this BG is not the best , it is better than one in 10,000 shattered pieces.
I lifted the back box up -  - - - - - - - - - - and all was fine.
I could NOT believe it.

Doesnt look that bad from the back.
But it is severely faded - lacking a lot of colour.

A close up at the spidery web cracks.

Looks like I had better get some Pinball Pal lenses  #@#

At least the main centre of the playfield is in nice shape - and missing that all too common burn mark.

Other area's have the infamous ball swirl going on a bit.

I will buy a new set of plastics from PBR for this game.
Nice work by someone to fix the top broken plastic - just snap bits randomly from other plastics and glue em all together

Think I need a new shooter housing as well.

More soon
