Flying Qantas with a playfield
« on: November 23, 2010, 10:33:13 PM »
I'm off to the States in January and am thinking of buying a IPC playfield whilst I'm over there.  Just wondering if anyone has flown on Qantas from the States and brought a pf back as checked luggage.  Will they allow it or is it too big?  I know you can check in a bicycle in a bike box which is a bit bigger than a pf.  Has anyone actually flown with a pf as luggage?

You can take surfboards so check it in as a boogie board, you can even use a boogie board padded case for extra protection .

Dont see why not as long as its packaged Ok... we have to fly with prams etc and it all goes into the oversized luggage dept.

How many bloody surfboards and didjeridoos do you see being packed on the plane?

Personally, i would protect the playfield with Nicks ( pinnies4me)... put them face to face with a protector between... cant go wrong id say!

Used to do this quite a lot, Buy a playfield and get it send to my sister in Florida. Then when over there on holiday pack it up securely and bring it back on the return journey.
No problems at all.
