Chicago Coin Edge Connectors
« on: December 11, 2010, 07:01:56 PM »
Hi there

Can you get replacement pins for the edge connectors on a Chicago Coin EM?

They appear to be slightly bigger than the pins used on Gottlieb machines so these pins don't fit when put in and wriggle in the holding?

Are there any ways to try and clean the pins?

Can post pics to assist.

Thanks as always

Ric

Not sure what CC edge connectors look like but to clean male and female pins etc, i buff the male with steel wool or fine grade sand paper.. sometimes ill flow some solder over them also to make good strong contact.
My trick to clean the female is to shove bi carb of soda into them and then put in a bowl... pour on more bi carb. Then pour vinegar over the top... will fizz like buggery... allow to stop fizzing and pour some more... leave for an hour and rinse off... gets rid of most if not all the black grime!

Thanks for the tips

Going back to it, I have a few bigger problems, including springs on steppers having unwound.

Looks like another mammoth efforts

With the steppers after rebuilding them coil the spring ip so it's only just tight test the unit in all positions and if it doesnt reset easily tighten up one more turn repeat this till it resets freely don't want it to tight or there will be in necessrary pressure on the step up
