First Album ever owned
« on: January 14, 2009, 03:51:45 PM »
What was the first album / cassette tape (or CD for the youngsters amongst us) -  that you ever owned.

Unfortunately mine was Monster Mash by Bobby Pickett and the Cryptkickers ( yes there was once an entire album based around this song )
I was about 7 years old and loved those old parody songs on that tape.

I should be ashamed shouldn’t I. !)#

I have an older brother and sister who were both heavily into music when I was young, so I was never short of a tune. My earliest recollection of owning an album was in 1990 when I received my very own cassette deck as a present. The album was MCMXC A.D. by Enigma.

In 1977 I was given a copy of KISS "Destroyer". Probably one of the best Hard Rock/Metal Albums of all time. I quickly followed up by buying KISS "Alive" and it changed my life forever..

I WORE OUT the Double Cassette of "Alive" and "Alive II". "Alive" is my favorite album of "all time" - and is recognized as the album that influenced guitarists like Slash, Dimebag Darrell, Marty Friedman, Dave Sarbo, Scott Ian, Lenny Kravitz and bands such as Motley Crue, Skid Row, Pantera, Anthrax and Metallica have covered songs from this album.

Given = Destroyer

Bought = Alive

What memories from my favorite musical era...

We didnt have much money so I used to tape music from my cassette/radio. I was probably in my 20's and working before I bought music. Dunno what the first one would be, but I remember some of my first purchases wouldave been Faith, Alyannis Morrisette, and Billy idol.

Mine was "Ten Little Indians" in 1969. I was a tot. Not sure who the artist was. :lol

My older brothers were into The Beatles and one of my earliest music memories was listening to "Hey Jude" while watching the record spinning around on the little record player. I still remember enjoying the spinning picture of the apple in the middle.

Man those were the good times.
