HH not kicking ball into shooter lane
« on: January 31, 2011, 10:58:41 PM »
Had a problem develop a couple of weeks ago on my HH, after loosing the ball it would take anywhere from straight away to 60 seconds or so for the ball to be ejected to the shooter lane,
so i cleaned the out hole switch contacts, didnt fix the problem.
replaced chips associated with the out hole, that didnt fix it.
went back to the out hole switch and checked continuity, switch was working fine.
so i left it for a few days and got back to it on the weekend, i thought i would trace the wires from the out hole switch to see where they went, first stop was a tilt switch under the playfield, as soon as i touched the wires there they fell off, they must have been hanging by a thread, so out comes the soldering iron and the problem is solved.

I wish the problem with the WPC DCS sound board was as easy to track down.

For all the design faults (grounding issues) that plagued the sys80 format, it is good to hear a problem is solved using simple methods !

luckily the Z11, Z12, Z13, Z14 chips( i think that was there numbers) were already socketed which makes life easy.

Forgot to mention the wires at the tilt switch were supposed to be daisy chained at the solder tab which was the fault.
