Stern Dracula drop down target solenoid
« on: March 21, 2011, 08:25:38 PM »
The right hand drop down target solenoid remains energized forcing the targets up.
With power off the solenoid it operates freely, but as soon as power is applied the solenoid is energized.
Has anyone had a simular problem?

Most likely the transistor for that solenoid has gone.

Do you have a multimeter and handy with a soldering iron?

Appears to be solenoid # 15...I'm trying to find a set of schematics so we can point you in the right direction..

Yea proberly a transistor, I had a driver problem on a stern cheetah and because it was staying energised it was blowing fuses. ps. the driver was replaced with a new one and the new one turned out to be a dud!

I just went and had a look at my own Stern Dracula for you, Q14 on the solenoid driver board drives the top right (4 bank) drop target coil. A TIP102 will do the job fine.

Cheers.. Mitch
