I didn't follow Clay's guide. I read about it on RGP before the guides. I think it depends on the climate, but my method has been 100% successful on all glasses I've done. I've lost count of how many.

Either way will do fine.

OK, delivery of the Krylon arrived in the mail (many thanks Lindsay for the tip, I purchase it from Over the Rainbow as per your suggestion).

The next question - is it required to remove the lift channel (I think that's what it's called) from the glass when applying the Krylon?  My initial reaction is to just leave the channel in place (and I have probably a total of 3 glasses to do). !@#

If the channel must come out, then the best way to do this?  I cringe when I think of the risks involved in taking it off (and putting it back on), and my gut feeling tells me to just leave it on in the first place.

Unless you are planning to replace the lift channel, I'd leave it. Just remove the plastic channels.

If you MUST remove the channel, use a hair dryer to warm up the double sided tape holding the channel to the glass. Do not use any tools to remove it other than the hair dryer and a rag to prize the channel free. Hair dryer on warm and direct the air on the channel, not the glass. No heat on the glass, especially during the cold weather. What I do it lay the glass on a towel, and direct the heat ONLY on the bottom of the glass, so that minimizes any heat on any part of the glass.

Sometimes the channel can be removed by hand. Just keep in mind to NEVER use any tools.

Post you results !

Or perhaps this mob (online orders only)

http://www.polymerclay.com.au/kscc-krylon-crystal-clear-triplethick-glaze-express-p-11483.html

Bought 2 cans last week. Including postage, it cost $48 which I think is well worth it considering a dealer was selling them for $40 a while back !
On the left is the "original" TT that I bought over 10 years ago. I think I did around 8 full backglasses (including a Bally Bingo main glass and magic square glass).

So if you are lazy like me, just create an account on the website, place your order and wait for delivery ! Service was GREAT.

Nino, I also purchased from them, and went for 2 cans.  I have applied it to the Hotdoggin' BG .... all OK.  I will be eventually getting around to a resto thread on this one, and will include this part of it in that thread.

Looking forward to the restoration, Steve. Note that applying TT is a straight forward process. I've only heard of a couple of "nightmares".
