Beaky's Pinball Repairs
« on: July 13, 2011, 03:50:09 AM »
Hi People.
As a quite a few of you know I have a Pinball repair website. http://beakyspinballrepairs.moonfruit.com/
It still needs a lot of work though I just haven't had the time to work on it (to many board repairs)

I specialise in corrosion repairs (battery leaks and other types of corrosion) but I also do all types of board faults for all brands of SS and DMD machines.

I have been doing pinball repairs (including board repairs) since 1986 and have worked in amusement centres as a pinball / video game tech (many years ago)

I can supply eproms if needed and also do on site repairs in south east QLD.

Any way there are more details on my board repair services on my website and there will be more stuff on there about my services when I get time to update it.

LONG LIVE AUSSIE PINBALL

Hi Beaky, checked out your website, displayed well on my phone  ^^^
Hope your new venture kicks off well for you, I would think that there would
be plenty of opportunity for pin repairs on the Gold Coast.
Cheers
Dave

Andy (Beaky) has been servicing all of my 30 plus DMD pinballs for the last few years. There is nothing Andrew cant fix. He can work on Pinball 2000 boards and I think he is the only person in the country who can, to my knowledge. No matter what pinball issue I throw at him he can fix it, and with ease I might add.

Andy has recently overhauled my Revenge from Mars Pinball 2000 monitor, replaced some bits n pieces on the monitor chasis, degaused the factory tube monitor and made it like new. The difference in the vibrant colours, the overall performance has made this machine like brand new. You have to see it to really appreciate it.

This list of board repairs Andy has done for me, and every other pinball fix known to man is extensive and impressive. I met Andy via the forum 2 years ago, and since then I have had Andy work with me in my Security Business with electronics etc. Again, he has a very indepth and broad knowledge of all things electrical/electronics.

I do give him a hard time from time to time for being a little slow, but as he rightly points out, its best to be thorough and do the job right the first time, and rushing any jobs for the sake of just banging it out isnt in Andy's vocabulary. I am a tuff person to keep happy, and i can be a bit of a cranky bastard, but if anyone wants any repair work or advice from a fair dinkum bloke who has a heart of gold, you cant go past Andy.

Aussie Pinball is full of some very talented people, and its blokes like Andy who will bend over backwards to help any member out anytime. Andy has a wife n 3 kids, so the pocket money he makes doing board repairs, service calls and general restoration helps put food in the fridge, but its his love of pinball and helping people out which is really why he does what he does.  If you need any help, give Andy a go, he will always give it his all.   ^^^ ^^^

Thanks Guys

my pinball diagnosing is very thorough and I don't charge on an hourly basis. I only charge for the actual repair and I do get the boards repaired ASAP.

when It comes to corrosion repairs and repairing some one else's hack repair jobs on boards it does take more time then just a simple diagnose and repair.

When I do a corrosion repair I remove all corroded parts. then all the remaining solder. sand  the corroded area to remove any remaining corrosion, neutralise the corrosion, tin all exposed copper with solder, mask up all headers seal top side of the pcb with solder through pcb lacquer, install new parts.repair any damaged tracks with jumpers, then seal bottom side of pcb with lacqer, mask any new headers and I.C sockets and re coat top of  board.

It makes me exhausted just typing the process.

Hi Beaky,

Can you tell me a good on site reparer in Melbourne. I have a few SS machines that have some minor issues that need sorting out.

I am not sure of an on site repairer in melbourne. I know there are a few guys that are on here that fix there own machines in melbourne. It might pay to post this question here http://aussiepinball.com/index.php?board=30.0

I 'might' be going down to Melb. over the next week, I will let you know if it is a definite.

Strangeways might know of someone, throw him a P.M. and if he knows any one he will let you know.
