Playfield insert wanted
« on: July 28, 2011, 06:27:45 PM »
Folks, I am looking for a clear playfield insert, Diameter is 63mm.
It is out of a Williams F-14 Tomcat.
Darn thing is warped enough that it can't be leveled by sanding as it will wear through.
So if anyone can help, please help!
Thanks
Lets go Brandon!

If you can't find one, could one be machined up on a cnc - I could possibly help there if no other option.

Thanks for the offer, Swinks. Just looking around to see if I can source one at the moment,
Will keep it in mind if I hit a brick wall.

Have you considered trying to straighten it with heat?
Have not done this myself but have read of it being done by others.
Heat gun or perhaps oven to heat up and then straighten with a dowel fitting the inside diameter.
Just a thought..
Cheers
Dave

Rather try to find a intact one if I can Dave, the old one is 2 1/2 inch diameter and sits right in the middle of the lower playfield, so anything other than dead flat will have a disasterous effect on gameplay.
Also, after my Gorgar plastic straightening efforts, (saved by Daniel, thanks mate!) Mrs 48 has enforced a no-go zone for me around her oven! I am banned from the kitchen, except for making her a coffee in the morning!
Cheers,

Hi mate, can you post a photo if possible and detail the dimensions of the insert including the rim and centre as I can try a cut a sample. My old cnc normally does timber but sure I could do a small plastic, no guarantees but don't mind giving it a go this weekend.
