ALL STAR WARS FANS/OWNERS
« on: September 14, 2011, 04:16:27 PM »
.Attention- ALL STAR WARS FANS/PINBALL OWNERS
If u like your Star Wars Pinball Machines (Data East STAR WARS or Sega STAR WARS TRILOGY or Bally/Williams STAR WARS EPISODE 1 Pinball 2000 -Versions),
Today was the 1st day that The Entire STAR WARS COMPLETE 6 MOVIE SET was released on Blu Ray.
The magic here, is that there are over 40 never before seen scenes on this Special Release Collection which relates to over 4 hrs of never seen footage. The entire 6 x movies has been digitally re-mastered in Blu Ray format making these movies now even more attractive with Crystal Clear viewing.

K-Mart is selling the 6 movie Box Set for a bargain price of ONLY $99. I reckon that is a very very attractive price for a Blu Ray Box Set with all the new scenes etc.  ^^^ $#$

I was lucky to see the release info last night on Foxtel with some of the never seen scenes, and It was Amazing to say the least !  #*# #*# #*#

I arrived home today to find my wife had been down to K-Mart and scored me the Box-Set.  ^^^ I believe Big W and other retailers are doing something similar, but so far, the $99 price was apx $20 cheaper than others and K-Mart was the Go.  ^^^ Hope this info helps for any Star Wars pinny owners/fans.  ^^^

Man, this boxset is so worth buying.  You havent seen these movies properly til u watch them in this format. It goes well beyound just blu ray. The remastered digital updates n clarity plus new scenes will blow u away. $99 very very well spent.

(If u have kids, they need to watch these famous movies 4 sure).

I will be grabbing these, thus continuing my ongoing donations to the LUCAS foundation.
For me though they will NEVER be as good as when I saw them( the original trilogy) in wonderfull 70MM glory in the 70's and 80's in packed cinemas as a kid.

Daz, here is a story for you. When I was a kid, my Aunty was the highest Manager at Hoyts Picture Theatres in Pitt Street, Sydney. When she retired many years later, she had been working there for close to 50 yrs. (It was her first job as a kid and she worked there her entire life).

My brother and I were put into a huge theatre before the actual release of the Star Wars movie, and with my brother and I only, we watched the movie in a private session by ourselves, just the 2 of us. How cool. This process was repeated for many many years and we always got the royal treatment. My aunty had a guy (the same guy for well over a dozen years) always look after us and bring us popcorn n lollies etc, and he was a top bloke.

When i was 17/18 yrs of age, it was always cool taking a girlfriend to Hoyts and again my Aunty would do a private screening etc. It sure impressed the girls.
My aunty is still alive and she is 87 yrs of age and still going strong. When the original owner of Hoyts passed away, he left ALOT of money to my Aunty and a percentage of the Hoyts company. (this was the fellow who employed my aunty when she was 14 yrs old, and watched her grow over the next 40 plus years).

Whenever i am in Sydney, I always visit Hoyts and it brings back great memories. My aunty still sends me a free ticket (yearly gold pass) that gets VIP'S into the movies for zilch. My Aunty is probably the kindest lady walking the planet and always has been. Anyway, a bit of movie history for ya !  ^^^

Great story Brett!
I'm jealous about your star wars private screening.
My family also have history in the cinema game.
My grandfather ran the local cinema at coolum on the sunshine coast in the 50's til mid 70's, old canvass seats, carbon arc light for the projectors..my mum and her sisters worked there..real family thing.
My uncle worked as a projectionist for Greater Union in Brisbane, he got me a casual job as an assistant projectionist while I was school in the mid 80's. I loved it straight away and left school soon after, it was my main form of income from then until I gave the game away last year.
Lot of great history and stories in the old movie houses...all of the brisbane city ones are now gone...such a shame ( the odeon, the winthergarden, the forum, the albert, the regent, the paris( where I saw Star Wars in 78)  I prefer them to a multiplex anyday.

Daz, You are right. The days of watching a movie in a place with character seem to have dissapeared.

Even today,  the best way to watch a movie at the cinemas is if u can score a small theatre room within the cinema complex. I find the smallest cinema viewing room they have gives the most enjoyment. Brings back the feel of the older cinemas. Also, (nothing worse than watching a movie at the cinema and all u can see thru the whole dam movie is the square green exit light lit up next to the big screen-that definately sux).   @.@

P.S - Re Star Wars there are 8 Blu Ray discs in the Star Wars Box set and a really cool book comes with it. (J B Hi Fi has it as well as K.Mart and Big W etc) $99 Box Set.

I agree you can't beat watching at the cinemas and I too had the opportunity the see a couple of movies by myself......it was at the crazy horse cinema and one movie starred a chick call Linda. I think I was by myself although I did hear some moans at the very back of the cinema but was too scared to turn around @@^
