 !@#
I bought a led kit for my topper when I had it to avoid such dramas.
Hope you fix the problem...it is the easily the best pinball topper ever!

I remember someone telling me that the wh20 needs a different type of bulb so that's why I grabbed the topper kit, otherwise I would have just whacked some standard Leds in.
They are slightly bigger than a normal a normal LED and have 3 or 4 small bulbs around the base and one on the top..it is a blue and white LED kit and looks fantastic on the waterfall.
Wh2o is one of the best pins just to sit and stare at lit up with alll the house lights off after a few beers.

Yes the white water topper lights are a higher voltage than standard playfield light so the LEDs are most likely cooked.    I did look for suitable LEDs at one stage but gave up

yeah bloody oath it looks good going.
it went like this see:
i bought 6x red, blue and white ones from jcar.(whom i know are crooks-another story).appx 3.?? each.
just for fun started popping them into every possible location pinny(that could physically fit.)
you know...having s fiddle.
they didnt really suit anywhere.
no good in backbox, under mountains, or wirlpool.
tryed in topper- blue, white, red, all the way across.
bwrbwrbwrbwrbwrbwrbwrbwr.
(dome is removed and damaged.)
guys it looked unreal!!!!!!!!
really brought it to life!
i really miss it.
yeah i have buggered all my leds!(update- leds are not actually buggered)

As I have said before I am not a real devotee of LED kits but this one is a prime exmaple and well worth the money.
It gave extra life to the waterfall decal in the topper and if you run the lights in blue white sequence it really adds to the original cascade effect of the topper.
The buyer who bought my WH20 was blown away by it...he came to pick up Judge Dredd after purchasing that first and left with it and the whitey 4 days later.

If its an over voltage problem, then a resistor would solve that. Another killer of LEDs is voltage ripple.. especially spikes... nice smooth DC supply required.
You either completely smooth the voltage, or drop it slightly to UNDER supply your LEDs to lengthen life.

Best quality LED module ( used in signage) come with a current regulator IC in the package to ensure a smooth steady supply. The LEDs do last longer this way, but youll find that theyll be lovely and bright to start with and then just drop back to a certain level of decay and stay that way for quite a while. No one is getting the promised 50,000 hours out if them... more like 5,000 ...

We had some nice wins today and got pretty much everything working on Craig's Whitewater, apart from a couple of stubborn optos. #*# #*#

Replaced some bad caps, re-flowed solder to all bridge rectifiers and added jumper wires on driver board, as per Nino's excellent guide.

Flash lamps all now flash after replacing three bad TIP102 transistors.

Switch matrix is now also working after replacing CPU chip U20 - ULN2803.

Also the topper chase lights are now working. @@* @@*

Now I've read lots of hype about the Whitewater topper, but I have to say that I was totally blown away by the water effect with the lights working.

This thing looks absolutely amazing! :D :D

Happy to help and it also gave me the opportunity to work on a new(to me) system.  I have learn't so many things doing this repair.
You can read a guide a 100 times but when you actually work on a board/system, you learn/remember so much more.

i am getting excited and can nearly see some light at the end of tunnel.
Yep. Definately getting brighter now. ^^^
