Cabinet Decal Replacement
« on: September 18, 2008, 09:44:15 PM »
Recently I have completed a full cabinet restore using new decals on both my WH20 and Fish Tales.
I swear , I will never do a cabinet again.
I am really starting to like faded cabinets - LOL  :D :D

WHITE WATER

Here is a few before and afters of the WH20 cabinet.

As recieved

Some peoples 'skills' just amaze me....it would appear that every nong who has NO idea about how to use a power tool......once owned a pinball machine and attempted a repair on it !! Below was how they chose to hold the inner floor panel in place, at least they countersunk this big old screw before they rammed it in.

The strip begins

I used a hair dryer to heat the old decals and slooooooooooooooooowly , ever so slooooooowly did they start to come off - I think it took about a week of nights in the garage to get these decals off. Its a nightmare job !!

Look - that cigarette burn went all the way through !!! NOTE that I painted the entire inside of this cab black as well - I used Satin Black.

So I sanded this and sanded it and sanded it and bogged all the holes and dents and then sanded it and sanded it and sanded it - eventually it felt like glass to the hand. i also sprayed black around all the edges as you can see....

Heres the end result

I HATE Toppers

I know I know, I am the odd one out , but I cannot stand them.
I bought this WH20 without a topper but the top of the Backbox cab had holes all over it....here it is after I patched , sanded and re-painted the top of the BB cabinet.

FISH TALES

A couple of FT comparisons.

I still havent got FT back together - hopefully will be done by end of October.
