Replacing coils
« on: December 10, 2011, 11:33:17 PM »
People talk about rebuilding flippers and stuff, but how often do coils get replaced or for that matter do they need replacing as a rule. Do they burn out or deteriorate over time? I have some as spares and have only replaced coils when finding it difficult to take or and replace coil sleeves. I figure the coils is on its way out or am I incorrect

I replace coils when they are the wrong value (and this happens a lot), or if the coil sleeve is melted to the coil. Simple test is to measure the resistance and if it is out of tolerance, then I throw it in the bin. Sometimes, you can replace the coil diodes. If the coil looks UGLY, then use the coil wrappers from Peter's site ;
