Pinball wanted for nephews/nieces in Kinglake
« on: February 23, 2009, 01:52:03 PM »
Hi guys
I'm John from Scotland. I own a safecracker, Dredd, Apollo 13,Getaway,Swords of fury & Stern Stars
I have family who need cheering up a bit in Kinglake after the fires.3 x teenage nephews & neice
Looking to buy a machine in Oz, get it delivered & setup at their house in Kinglake, Victoria.
This is not a scam!! lol. I will let the money clear before you set off with the machine, I'm working on pinball community trust here
I'm looking for a cheap! DMD machine with decent gameplay & rules, dont offer me any streetfighter II s or Popeyes' :-)
Thinking along the lines of No Fear, Getaway, Dredd, Shadow, Batman Forever - mid price, not necessarily collector quality
Hope you get the jist of what I'm looking for, just a machine they can gather round together and have some fun.
email me on jnhiggins@lineone.net ( I dont know if this board emails when I have a reply?)
thanks
John Higgins

You might be better off quoting a price range you are willing to consider; most DMDs in Australia go for AUD $2500+ with better titles fetching $3000 or more.

I know MarkC has a Getaway on the floor; not sure who's No Fear that was?

RE: Pinball rankings. We don't give a stuff, and I don't think there are any tournaments easily accessible from here even if we did.

Ok. Thanks for the reply
Obviously I dont know prices in oz. The machines I mentioned, in the UK can be got for(Dredd£600/$1350AD, Shadow£800/$1800AD) obviously high end machines go for more
I can see from Australian ebay that dealers are selling these machines in the region of $2500 -3500 upwards(crazy) -s'pose I'm not looking to get a dealer machine- Certainly not parting with $4500 for a DE Star wars or $5000 for a TOM type of thing.
I'm not here to haggle(too much) or state the prices on ebay are ridiculous( we get those crazy chancers on UK ebay
Hoping theres a machine out there for max $2000.........plus delivery costs of course
Any out there looking for a home?
cheers guys
John

Hi John, gunna be hard to get a DMD without issues for 2k, even a Striker Extreme will command more. We pay alot for our pins here, the best you can hope is someone having something good they are looking to sell for quick cash. I know where this is a lovely BSD, but that will cost you 2800.

Hi Jon, i am glad to see that Mark has sent you a PM. I think he should have something worthwhile in your price range and if so i would be more than happy to offer my time to deliver it for you.

Hope we have something you'd like.

We pay more for the pins, and the of course the parts to restore/maintain them. But hey if we didnt love it we would just our blow cash on something else.

We import them by the container load from Europe, normally. But by the time you add freight and duties (plus some profit for the importer) it adds up to not so cheap. So yeah, there are some advantages to living in USA or UK (cheaper pins), but then there are different advantages to living in Australia.
