System 11 MPU 5 Volt help
« on: May 26, 2012, 09:06:59 PM »
Hi All

My High Speed has developed an issue, it was playing fine, then I turned it on and it started, then went to attract mode & then it locked up. Now only the GI lights light up when turned on

I've rebuilt the power supply and all of the voltages & the wiring checks out.

So I took the board out & hooked up the 5v to it and the 5v test point reads a 1.3 volts.

Has anyone had this issue before? Any help would be appreciated

Cheers

what 5V did you attach? 5V from the machine or a bench supply?

Bench supply, I also checked it on the machine and there was no voltage at the test point but there was on the power supply output

Have you check the fuses?

I would be careful about using a bench supply - measure EVERYTHING - can the supply provide enough current? Is it connected to the correct place?

there is not much between the +5V input and the test point.
If your power supply is strong enough to run the board (I only use a regulated power supply) then some has gone short circuit on the board.
what ever has failed in this situation will get hot.

I would suggest you seek professional help for the repair before you destroy the board beyond repair - if that hasn't happened already.…...
