Judge Dredd ball trough resistor wattage
« on: December 04, 2012, 09:49:43 PM »
Can anyone help me with the watt size of the resistors on the ball trough for Judge Dredd?
A-16529 or A-16530 not sure which number but it's the 270 ohm ones.
Mine are breaking and I've bought some grommets and drilled out the board but I'd like to replace all the broken resistors as well.
My local electronics store (Altronics) only has 1/2 Watt, 1 Watt and 5 Watt. These don't appear, physically, to be the right ones.
Would really like to get the correct size to bring the board back up to original.

Pins: The Getaway, TotAN, WH2O, Pinball Magic, Banzai Run, Flintstones, Judge Dredd, Lord of the Rings LE, Metallica LE, Iron Man VE, The Walking Dead LE, Star Trek The Next Generation.

Can you measure the physical size of the existing resistors? i think you're probably after 10-20watt ones which are 30-50mm long and about 10-12mm thick, but i don't know the machine itself so i'd need to see them....

IF that's the case, is there an electronics surplus shop near you, or search ebay or electronics-surplus stores online.
(these are waaaya beyond the level of Altronics or Jaycar, in fact someone like "Oatley electronics (nsw) may also be worth a try.
Here in VIC we have Rockby electronics which may have them too....

The large power resistors can be associated with power supplies, audio amps, ham-radio etc etc, so you find them 'somewhere' that has them easily for you....

They are 2W but I use ones that are 2W size but rated at 3W on my boards. Very VERY hard to find in an electronics shop as they are not used in many things.

I can send you some if you like - PM your address and qty

Marty I think you may be thinking of the wrong ones.

Thanks Mike.
That would be awesome re. sending me some but you really don't have to. I'm sure I can get some online somewhere.

I assume that the increased wattage, of the ones you have installed, is for a lower heat generation?
Because 270 ohms is 270 ohms regardless of the wattage, right?

3W ones run cooler as they are capable of dissapating more heat - the ones I use are physically the same size as 2W but they do seem to run cooler?
