Pinny Fan In Perth
« on: December 30, 2012, 09:18:18 PM »
Sadly only got the one machine (GN'R) but when we move house and I have more room I'm looking at fattening up the collection.  I could probably sneak another one past the missus now and find somewhere for it. Hell she promised me that I could buy a TAF once we were married and that happened over 3 years ago but Ive never followed thru with it.

I actually imported the pin myself about 6-7 years ago as I thought the prices of them locally were a joke.  I made sure the cabinet and playfield were good on the one I bought then set about tidying it up.  Learnt/taught myself a lot through the process plus had a couple of mates that were quite experienced that I could fall back on.  I found it good fun and quite therapeutic to do after work each day.  I eventually sold that machine when I bought a second GNR I saw on ebay for $2K about 12 months later and it turns out it was in basically mint condition.

I actually got into playing pinnys back when I was at uni.  Cut my teeth on Back to the Future, Cyclone and the first Simpsons pin.

To have just the one pin and make a GnR is pretty good form!

Welcome to the forum...

Cheers, I'm a big GN'R fan (obviously).  Been thinking of selling some of my GNR stuff (i've got a pretty big collection) to fund the pinball habit some more.

Yeah I can't say I am a big fan of many Data East pins compared to others that I have played.  Although one I've always wanted to play was Tommy.  I figured being a music themed pin and one of the last Data East's made I might like it, but I've never found one to try out.

I felt the same about TOMMY, especially beiong a WHO fan. But its based on the stage show not the film and once i did get to play it i was glad i played before i bought as it completely changed my mind about this title and it wont be added to the collection

 %)% Slash,

I've got a Tommy, and I believe it is a great pin - especially the Tommy blinders that cover the flippers. Pity we're on opposite sides of the country, otherwise you could've dropped round for a game. I've never had a game on a GnR.... I must see what I can do about that !@#

Yeah shame that would have worked out nicely if we were closer.
