Stern will sell out of what ever they make due to there low production runs
so they will sell out of Star Trek  LE's  b4 production as for the pro's they would easily
sell enough of those to at least break even regardless of wether there in Bars or collectors homes.

although if this is the game that has the LCD  who knows. !@#

I think alot of people are underestimating the amount of Star Trek fans out there.

And I have to totally disagree with the bar bit about a Star Trek machine being dorky, or seen as dorky. Thats a huge under-estimation of how many people think Sci-Fi stuff is very very cool.

If u ask 100 people are they into Star Trek or Sci-Fi space stuff, 50 percent will say yes, 50 percent will say no. Therefore, if u went to a place that serves alcohol, u would find out of the ten blokes u went with, half would be happy to play the pinball machine, and would see it as very cool.

Also, I understand what some people say about Batman, or Spiderman, or Superman being movie remakes, or Star Trek being a remake, or even movies like Zombie movies/shows even like the walking dead etc, but u have to remember every 10 years a new generation of many many hundreds of millions of people worldwide go from being kids to teenagers or young adults.

So whilst us 30 or 40 year olds have been around to see 2 or 3 or more superman movies etc, this new generation has not, and thats why they still keep getting made, because they, the studios, or pinball makers, or even toy makers, know they can bank roll anything because the profits are there for the hundreds of millions of new people world wide who are happy to spend on a title/theme which they havent seen before.
This is why remakes make money and will continue to do so for many generations to come. Dont forget Stern wants to get new blood into collecting pinball machines, hence some of these remakes like Star Trek are aimed at 40 yr old trekky fans like me, and the young bloke who is say 20 or 25 who thinks Star Trek is cool as well.

You have to look at the bigger picture, then it all makes sense !

totally agree.
As long as stern keeps producing, the title doesnt matter. We just need a healthy pinball industry. I want my kids to be able to buy a new pinball machine when they grow up. Thats my hope anyway.  ^^^

I didn't say it was a dorky theme, or that you are a dork, even if you are. I stated that in a bar situation it would not make money, no operator would site one in a pub because they are smart enough to realise this.
Out of all the people i know a lot more than half would be into sci-fi, including myself, but, only three i know will admit to being into Star Trek, and two of those guys are total dorks. Nuff said     !^!
Maybe the rest are closet dorks  *)*

I agree with Brett on this one if Star Trek was in a pub I'd play it 100% it's an exciting game that most have heard of but there's other themes I'd never play in a pub :-) . I think it would do well I'm sure weather your or dork or not.

Good, play anywhere theme. Some with blinkers think that pinballs are only found in pubs.
Looking at IPDB, space themes are always popular and Star Trek is right up there.
If you don't remember the 70s then you were on drugs.
If you remember playing pinball in the 70s you were having a good time.
If you don't remember anything,  then read about it here,

This thread is getting funny

I am glad that some of you do not work for Stern as they would be broke within 6 months

In the pinball world, nerds/geeks win!!!!
Sterns successful games over the last few years;
Lord of the rings
The Simpsons Pinball Party
Spiderman
even a current machine like Tron got a second run

Yes, AC/DC would go well in a bar, but most machines aimed at the older player have flopped badly

None of those themes are dorky, the point was looking/being a dork in the local bar, if Gary wants pub sited games Star Trek is not going to make big money for any operator. Yes some people will play it, even some who aren't dorks  :lol

Who hangs out in pubs any more anyway? Surley most games are played waiting for something else eg fish and chips, car tyre rebalancing etc.
If you play in a pub, not really socialising are we?
University rec rooms, home use, Time Zone/arcades, thats where I see most machines.

Maybe my old  belly just stops me haning around pubs now............. !!!
