Hi there,
I've made a feature documentary "Special When Lit" and we're having the Sydney premiere on the 22nd December at the Chauvel Cinema in Paddington, Sydney. It has already screened at the Raindance Festival in London where it was nominated for best documentary. Hi guys, Emily Rickard, a producer of this documentary, has kindly offered a free double pass to one of our members for the Sydney premiere, scheduled on the 22nd December. There are 3 conditions:
- You must be able to attend with a friend (partner) on 22nd December at the Chauvel Cinema in Sydney
- You must make an effort to promote the documentary amongst your pinball buddies/family/friends.
- You must provide AP with a review of the premiere after the event.
First person to post here that can meet these criteria gets the double pass.

I didn't realise Emily was an Aussie (along with the other producer)! Even better. Just goes to show Australia really is the pinball capital of the world!

Not according to the website - just the Sydney screening followed by release to DVD etc.
But you can buy the poster now for US$20 (plus shipping I imagine).

I'll be there at the screening along with the other 2 guys from the crew (who are coming out from London). Whoa Tony, that would be absolutely AWESOME. I was thinking about driving myself but would be a boring trip on my own (no-one i know is interested, i don't know any girls who would want to see this doc either !!!). Paul, I'm in for the afterparty, its in Kings Cross so we'd probably have to get a taxi there as it would be a bit of a walk.
Regarding pubs to meet beforehand, looking on Google maps the Imperial hotel looks ok & is just down the road. The Paddo RSL is just across the road so is another option bit its an RSL so might be a hassle to get in
its on this Tuesday isn't it ... what time??

What a good night! Rod, Braddo and I caught a ride with Tony (thanks, mate), so it was a pleasant drive. ^^^
Met up with other pinheads for a quick drink and a bite before it started (some I knew, some new faces) and then we headed over to the theater. What a good turnout! To be fair, many were friends and family of the producers, I think, but I'm sure there were other enthusiasts there as well.
It was educational (for me, anyway) and very entertaining. I laughed out loud at a few moments, and at some of the 'pingeeks' but have to admit, I thoroughly enjoyed this documentary and look forward to the DVD.
Tony, my heart went out to you mate, during those terrible scenes where innocent pinball machines were being cruelly clubbed to death or even set on fire. I know how hard that must have been for you to endure, but I'm proud of you - you didn't cry after all! !!!

That was one of the better nights i've had for a while ^^^.
Was a great doc, had some real funny moments, i tried not to laugh along with the largely unexperienced crowd cause i take pinball very seriously, pinball is cool and not to be laughed at, but it got a fair few laughs from me. I did not know pin-geeks existed until now.

What a great night...good to see hundreds of pin heads all crammed into the cinema...well at least 10 of us where pinheads...lol..
Doco was fantastic...the artwork done was very very nice...and some GREAT footage...looks great in HD..
Get to see pingeeks in the Doco that would put most of us to shame...and will get Louise to watch this when its out on DVD so I can show her that Im not really that bad as I only have 10 pins..lol
Anyway this Doco is going to be a MUST BUY for anyone into pins when its out on DVD/BLURAY

The night was better and different to what I expected. A big turn out of friends and work collegues of the movie producers who put on a great before and after party. A lot of laughs during the movie directed at the quite insane pin geeks featured, great artwork and video graphics especially at the beginning of movie and a lot of pin facts too which I was unaware (ie the pinball industry was bigger than the movie industry up until 1970) ... I think everyone enjoyed the movie and the night in general ... how could you not - a pin movie followed up by a fully booked bar with free pins, drinks & pizza ... great effort by all involved!!

Still waiting on a release date - they are currently touring the movie through film festivals in the USA.
They are maintaining that the release of the DVD will be in 2010.

Hi all, DVD/Blu-ray release set for January 17th. itunes and digital stores in USA/Canada for January 31st. We'll keep you posted!
