Playfield is coming along nicely. My T2 has a ratty blown out prototype playfield, because it's a ratty blown out prototype :) Couldn't get a restorer to touch it over here. The ball guides were hand welded, and they were welded too hot, and had sharp edges that nicked the balls which ate the playfield. I smoothed the sharp edges and put new balls in it :) But nothing could save the PF.

Just had my handle chromed over here, sure does make the game look nice! Worthy upgrade!

Still watching in awe :)

Thanks for the kind words regarding the restoration guys.

I've been out of action the past few weeks; but i've been chipping away at the playfield when i've had a chance.

I finally got all of the playfield inserts levelled and glued - which allowed me to get the first couple of clears applied. I was really happy that i spent the time levelling the inserts, as the first two clears are really nice and flat, which will provide a fantastic working base for all airbrushing and insert decals.

The first 2...

Much gloss...

Angle shot...

Another...

After the clear cured, i rubbed it back, and got to work on the touchups. The playfield was ok to start with, but had alot of 'back to bare wood' ware around the high traffic areas.

The picture below shows the major areas i worked on. Still a few things to tidy up - but i'm hoping i'll be able to get another clearcoat done this weekend...

Have a great weekend guys,

Timbo

Glad your appriciating it spurr  :lol

It was pretty overcast in Geelong today, so it was really hard to capture any sort of reflection off the playfield. However, clear came off the gun really nice yesterday, and the playfield is looking nice and glossy. I will give it a week to fully cure off, before giving it one final rub back for inset decal application.

Playfield as of an hour ago...

STUNNING. Cant wait to buy my T2.

El-Timbo has easily just become the Christopher Hutchins of Australia or the Treasure Cove of Australia, and has done it with ease.

Your attention to detail is amazing, which shows EXCELLENT results.

Hey guys,

I've been pretty busy the past week and a bit - so i havent had alot of time to get my photos uploaded etc...

ANYWAY, i'm finally catching up with Terminator. The past week has seen the cabinet stripped, resquared, re-chocked (as the floor was sinking), filled, primed and ready for paint.

An hour to get the decals stripped...

A couple of days to get the cabinet looking nice again...

Body...

And then to make sure all chips and dings were filled...

With everything prepped, the cabinet was primed, and left to dry (i hadnt primed everything yet in this snap  @.@)... :tumble:

Then for the outsides first shot of black - stupid me ran out of primer so looks like i'll be masking everything else off !!!

And just a closeup...

So T2 is coming along nicely, still a ways to go, but i'll get it done. Once i have the cabinet finished, i will start on playfield re-assembly. Which can happen quickly if i get motivated  #@#

Thanks for reading guys,

Timbo

Looking good Tim.  Its not a site you see everyday a pile of T2 decal on the ground... #.#

Keen to see you weave your magic on it.
