can you put the wires back to standard and reinstall the old display and see if you have some action happening? (that's if the display still partially works)
remember you will need to have the cable between the display driver and the cpu connected properly
the +5 volts must be connected properly to the display driver board
and the ribbon between the display driver and display must be connected properly.

you must have all of the above connected properly for the display to work.
