I've been making a bit more progress on Gorgar.

I stopped cleaning because I thought I might start to cause damage, it didn't clean up as sparkling as I would have hoped but it was a definite improvement. Removing the mylar had lifted some paint and there were a few other areas that needed touching up. I bought some acrylic paints and a very fine brush from an art supply shop, did a bit of playing around on bare bits of wood and then attacked the playfield. I used an illuminated magnifying glass to work under and some cotton buds dipped in water to clean up.

Overall I'm happy with the touch up results and think I'll stop now. I could keep working, but I think when you touch up a small area your focus can be too detailed whereas viewing the whole playfield looks fine to me.  Before and after pics attached for others to judge.

I'm not sure what I'll do about protecting the touch ups - I'll put a mylar ring around the bumper and probably use some strips and spots on small areas and maybe try waxing to see if that will be enough.
