Been going through this machine to place in my head just how she works... the following threw me a bit..
These wires went out of the back of the machine and then back in again... they were connected to the 240V!!
Follow then through and you get to 2 of the cabinet to PF connectors
This is just bloody crazy and the arcing would have caused a fire.. apart from that 240V coils??? No bloody way!
Power is meant to come in from below the cabinet.. this is standard on these old machines.. then to the transformer which gives us 6.5VAC and 18.5V... the 18.5V goes to the rectofier to give approx 18VDC which IS COIL VOLTAGE - LOL,
Anyway, ive replaced the rectifier and from above all looks original
All voltages are present and correct.. so i can move to the PF now and start opening all the switches which have been bent to buggery.
This brings me to this very nice bit.. take a look
Its a kicker!!
ball hits the switch and closes... this fires this coil
ball is kicked back through the switch.
I tried to find the posting of the wikipedia innovations in pinball to find out when the first kicker was.. couldnt find it.. but heres one from 1936!
