Bally / Williams Test Menu - T.12 Flipper Coil Test Explanation

Hi guys

I was wondering if some one could explain to me what a failed test actually means.

When I run the test, there is 2 types of pulses for each flipper - fast and slow.
Is the fast the high powered test?
Is the slow the low powered test?
When I get to me top flipper on the WW test the fast works but the slow there is no flipper movement - does this suggest a stuffed coil, or stuffed diodes or stuff something else?

The manual suggests it has detected a problem but I am puzzled of what the problem is - can anyone help with a clarification?

The slow pulse is the hold circuit its job is to only hold the flipper up so it is very weak try in test mode remove the glass and manually lift the flipper by hand and see if it hold up ?     If not it could be a fault on either the board, coil or wiring

Hi Daniel,

I pulled the glass out and checked out the solenoid and the diodes of the top right flipper - one diode looked like one end had cracked off so I replaced it and re-soldered everything with this coil. I ran the test again and it was still too weak to lift the flipper itself in the hold test but when I manually assisted it could do it.

Would this suggest the flipper coil is failing?

What else could this mean if not a failing coil?

I had about 3 games and then checked the temperature of the coils and all seemed consistent.
