What's your Favourite back glass?
« on: February 10, 2013, 09:31:09 PM »
What are your favourite back glasses and Translites? No right or wrong answers here but for me it's hard to nail down just one. If I look at EM's then it's got to be either Gottlieb Slick Chicks or Gigi. Both for obvious reasons. In more recent times though (more recent than the 1960's anyway) looking at translites, the Addams Family and Bride of Pinbot are ones I've always liked, and Circus Voltaire is another great 90's back glass but my absolute favourites are from the late 70's early 80's. To me Gottlieb's Genie is just stunning and Bally's Xenon, though I've never played it before is a game I'd own just so I could look at that back glass everyday.

You know, this is a really interesting one - I had never thought about it and started surveying my games in my head and realized I love them all, and then it dawned on me that I actually just love backglasses - even the almost ugly ones!! Just never realized I have a thing for them!!

If I had to pin one down, it would be Funhouse - because I love amusement parks, love that game, but most of all I got it because my then 2 year old daughter saw me looking at a picture on the net and asked me when I was getting "the rainbow machine". She remembers that, but not why she called it that (the colours must have triggered something).

Oh, and she *loves* going to amusement parks with her old dad these days.

Ah Fathom! I forgot about Fathom, another stunner. Don't know how I forgot it though since I just ordered this back glass through CPR (just need the matching machine now).
You can't really underestimate how important they are to a game either. I guess they're just like a book cover in a lot of ways, though the saying goes "don't judge a book by its cover" it's certainly where we get our first impressions of a game. In many cases its what attracts us to a game in the first place.  For me the original artworks are the best ones.

Viper.
Only saw it once many years ago but it left a cold and chilling memory.
Art at its chilling best for a back glass. Do not remember the rest of the machine.

If you don't remember the 70s then you were on drugs.
If you remember playing pinball in the 70s you were having a good time.
If you don't remember anything,  then read about it here,

Well I'm completely biased towards Williams because that's what I own/like to play, Gorgar, Firepower and BK lined up and Black Knight wins hands down for mine, it's not really the art as such or mirror, the colors just glow, a very nice backglass  *%*
