Best way to sell my Pinballs?
« on: February 20, 2013, 08:45:29 PM »
I have two pinballs that I have owned for a while, and I have not been actively following the market for many years. I am a newbie on this forum as of today!

Unfortunately the time has come to sell them for various reasons. The two questions are:

- Where to sell them?
- How much for?

It looks to me that the market has shifted from eBay to Gumtree, which means I need to know how much to put them on for.

Any feedback, suggestions, hints, gotchyas gratefully appreciated.

Incidentally the machines are:

- Fishtales (which I have owned since about 1995! Excellent condition throughout. Seems this one has been a good investment as it is now very popular. Love this machine which is why I have kept it so long.
- Bride of Pinbot (which I have owned for about 6-8 years - very theatrical, but not such a great game in my opinion).

Thanks!

can't help you as I can't seem to part with my games.

note 1: never say your game is not much of a player, let the buyer make that assessment. BTW I don't mind BOP to look at but may agree with you on the gameplay
Still loving my Metallica Premium

$.$ and  %)% to our forum.

As a rule, we allow access to the trading section with the "For Sale" section after 20 posts. That's where these games can be listed for sale. The norm is a description, pictures, location and a price for members. I guess we could make an exception if you can post pictures etc - that would be good.

I'm sure there is a member looking for a Pride of Pinbot.

Thanks!

So, as I said, newbie. When I went to the trading section, I assumed that it was only for outright trades, not for sales - obviously I just can't see the section that I need. Any way to pass the 20 post thing without making a nuisance of myself?  :D

Is this a good place to sell (loaded question! Is it a good place for me to get the best price?) vs in the outside world - ie. Gumtree.

I have lots of pictures and made some videos to post on youTube today also. Nothing to hide!

Any comments on determining price? I guess when I get access to the forum, I will be able to see past sales??

Thanks for welcoming me aboard.

Watch out for 'predator' private messages with low ball offers. Do some research and post some pics here's you'll hit 20 posts in no time, and perhaps even post any offers without reference to who is making it for opinions??

Welcome to AP and sure the locals here will help you with a sale.

Where are you located as that will help others, give a good descriiption and many will appreciate it followed by some nice photos.

Depending on price and location I could be interested in the Fishtales as my wife loves her fishing.

I know Crashramp(Adam) was in the market for a BOP.  Not sure if he is in a position at the moment to buy one though.

Addicted to pins.

Yes I certainly am/was. My eyes lit up when I saw your post and I'd love to find a nice example of Bride of Pinbot but for the moment I'm committed to a couple of other machines so I'm not in a position to buy another at the moment so for me BoP will have to wait.
Good luck with your sales though and welcome to the forum!

Welcome to AP.

IF u dont sell here quickly, list the games on Ebay (as well as here) and see what top prices u can get. Gumtree equals scammers mostly...

Start the Fishtales/Bride of Pinbot at a much higher Buy it Now amount $ than what u really want, and  have a Make an Offer part on the ebay advertisement. Works the best to get higher amounts n people will offer what they feel is appropriate. Then u can get a short consensus from real buyers.
Gumtree seems to be full of scammers, Ebay offers some protection, not perfect ofcourse, but try n get cash on pick up, or bank transfer etc. Always ask for peoples mobile and work numbers etc so u can sort out the scammers from the real people.

Hard to give u a real close n realistic value on your games until u place some photos up. Generally Joe public will pay a little more for your machines than regular collectors, but with regular collectors u get serious buyers who are 99.99 percent good people and ethical.

Good luck with your sales and welcome again to AP.  ^^^

Thanks Caveoftreasures. That is great advice and just what I am looking for. I am surprised to see so many listed on Gumtree for what seems to be very high prices in comparison to eBay. Maybe people just trying their luck as it doesn't cost anything.

Will get those photos and video up tomorrow.
