Cartoon Pinballs ?? - your opinion

Cartoon Pinballs ?? - your opinion.

I read something that Gary Stern said in a recent article, and I didnt agree with it. First lets have a look at what he said in a interview >

He said, "Our product - pinball machines - is an adult game. Many are in bars. History has shown that children's titles do not do well in most cases – Bugs Bunny, Popeye, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, even Rocky and Bullwinkle; that used to be an adult title but became a children’s title.  Adult location owners (pubs and bars) didn’t want kiddie titles, especially in the United States.

So I did some homework, looked at some figures and came up with these numbers -

3750 x Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles - Data East 1991 (3750 produced) and so on, at the start of each title
2500 x Bugs Bunny Birthday Bash - Bally 1990
4217 x Popeye - Williams - 1995
5500 x Rocky n Bullwinkle - Data East - 1993
5502 Simpsons - Data East - 1991

Family Guy, Simpsons Pinball Party, Shrek - all Stern titles - no numbers available*

These are the ONLY DMD Pinball Machine titles that I can find/think of that are TRUE cartoon titles where there was a actual cartoon of the same name in mainstream media available for adults or kids.

Can anyone else think of a DMD Pinball Machine other than those I have listed. It has to be a cartoon, not a movie.

Anyway, I was thinking the opposite to what Gary was saying. I thought the above numbers were decent pinball machine sale numbers, and I thought anything between 2500 (Bugs Bunny) and 5502 (Simpsons Data East) would be great numbers for Stern to produce or match.
It seems that Data East was the king of cartoon titles so to speak, having done the most cartoon titles.

Keeping strictly with cartoon titles, is there a NEW Cartoon title you would like to see produced, and would u buy it ?
It can be a mainstream title like Superman for arguments sake, or a out there cartoon title like Beetlejuice ?

On this occassion I am thinking Gary has it wrong, cause Cartoon titles have SOLD very well in the past, and funnily enough, Sterns BIGGEST title to date is Simpsons Pinball Party, which is the opposite what Gary was saying...........

Any cartoon titles u want to ever see get produced by either Stern or JJP, strictly cartoon.

Scooby doo, Jossie and the pussy cats or one of those 70s cartoons that we grew up with on Saturday mornings. Would be far more interesting than the movie pins that keep coming out.

As I mentioned in a previous thread, I think Wreck It Ralph would translate well to a pinball machine and if Stern produced one, I'd put my hand up for one.

Another animated machine I think would do really well, is Futurama. I love the re-theme machine that I saw online.

Cheers!
Adam.

Gary has no idea about his own product !

Avengers was originally a cartoon - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Avengers:_United_They_Stand

..and from there a quick google search finds Hulk, Iron Man.. Avatar is CGI, which is not exactly animation, but it is not "real life".

Gary should concentrate on his own product rather than worry about "Kiddie" titles like WOZ (which I assume is the point he is trying to make), because he has done exactly the same thing without realizing it !

TMNT was one of the most successful Kid's cartoons, ported to a Video game which is one of the most successful of all time, which was also a very popular pinball.

"Superman" anyone ?

Cartoons are completely different from comic books although both have drawing animation.

Cartoons...think disney etc.

Most of the super hero comic books have nothing in common with cartoons excpet they are both drawn by hand.

A movie pinball, not a true cartoon. But close.  ^^^
I am going to have to think of some more cartoon pinnys, if they exist, and some new titles which would be cool, if made.

I reckon a modern day version, of a Dark Superman pinny would be good. I have seen the Dark Batman cartoon series and Batman stabs n shoots people, has knuckle dusters, hits people with iron bars, runs them over in his Batcar, and lots of other dark stuff.
A Superman version of this would be cool. Imagine the reds n blues on the cabinet art and the mad translite, plus red/blue/white Ledsw. Could be amazing.

A Scooby Doo pinball would be popular also ofcourse. Will think of more....
