cabinet and playfield decals
« on: March 27, 2009, 02:16:28 AM »
hi guys,
i have just spoken to an old friend / old boss from years ago who runs a business in the sign industry, to organise some adhesive stencils for my fire pin restore (will be starting on this project in the next couple of weeks : watch out for my restore post on this) and he informs me that he has a printer which now prints on vinyl.
excellent. i now have a place that will print up custom side decals for my pins when i need them. i just need to send him a cleaned up picture of the decals i need and he will print them in photo quality on adhesive vinyl.
i will keep everyone posted about the quality.and this guy is willing to print up 2 or 3 items with out a setup fee, just the cost of materials and ink.
so if in the future you need some cabinet or playfield decals (not the clear ones, the ones on the spinner or droptargets) you've got some photos and you cant seem to get them from anywere or they just dont make 'em i just might be able to get them printed at a resonable price.
isn't it great when you run into an old friend and they can offer you some help with parts for your pins.

i haven't decided if i'm going to stencil or decal the fire cabinet now, there are so many details on this pin with the yellow leaves and so many curved black lines.
i'm probably going to go with decals.
i have started on the computer layout for the stencils and it will be easy to convert them to decal art work.
dam before i knew about this i had no decisions to make, (with the cab)it was going to be stencils and that was it.
i will get him to print up 1 decal and see how i like it, it will be a week or so before i get around to it but when i get it i will post a pic.

Yes. I have seen them. A small fortune to pick them up. Lowest price is US$225 + aorund US$50 postage. All up about +A$400. don't want them that much. There must be an easier way?
