http://www.ebay.com/itm/King-KongOne-of-the-rarest-games-in-history-/130971892352

1 of 9 made.

Any predictions for final price?

Cool game, wonder why they didn't go ahead with it...

Bet that the guy that could of bought it for $12k wished he did, now at $18k.

My guess finish price will $24k, up there with BBB and Kingpin for rarity.

It is obvious that there a many people that have more money than sense.
Only a  !!@ would pay that much money for a bloody pinball machine.

I suppose if you have a crap load of money CC, then not a problem but pinball collecting can be a problem as well

a guy on pinside gave this as an answer to why it wasn't made
Data East put together 9 proto King Kongs. Each one is a little different, but mostly the same. They kept trying to aquire the license for it, but couldn't finalize it. They then aquired Back to the Future, which is why half the playfield (middle to left side) is much like Back to the Future.

here are a few images to help when the ebay listing disappears

It's a ridiculous amount of money for a toy regardless of how much money you have.

I'm sure someone like bill gates wouldn't find it difficult to pay these numbers but for the rest of us, I can't see the point

Some people have more disposable income than others, it's that simple.
I spend a bit of money on my "Toys" but I've got it, so why not?

The game certainly looks interesting but I've seen many games that look the part but don't really deliver on gameplay.
Good luck to whoever ends up with such a rare game.

Oh yeah, Cow Corner, you have been ignored. <..>

Actually I know some rich guys who give a LOAD to charity and keep that on the quiet - a lot of rich people do that - sure some dont.
AND then they still enjoy thier toys.

So its a win win really  ^^^

That's the fundamental difference between 'the nouveau riche' and 'the genuinely wealthy'.   *%*

As you alluded to, you can spot them a mile away in the way they conduct themselves, the former is conspicuous, whilst the latter is discreet.

Plus the former typically doesn't last beyond one generation, whilst the latter does.

I tend to flaunt my poverty status.  %.%. to be honest I don't care if someone spends a shit load on something I think is not to my taste. We got to understand and respect that everyone has a right to do their thing as long as it doesn't hurt others or is illegal etc. I always believe that everyone's possession is the best in their eyes and we should respect that as we try to buy the best to our ability. So I refuse to knock anything a person buys or owns whether its a game for $200 or $20000. Each to their own as long as no one gets hurt. Good luck to the buyer and those who can and cant afford such an item

Sold for US$20,100
If you don't remember the 70s then you were on drugs.
If you remember playing pinball in the 70s you were having a good time.
If you don't remember anything,  then read about it here,
