TZ questions
« on: April 02, 2009, 09:29:57 AM »
I have some questions about my TZ machine that I hope can be answered:

1) I bought these -> http://pinbits.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=13_2&products_id=182 plastics from Pinbits, but I'm not sure where all the little plastics go?  There were no instructions or diagrams that came with the plastics, does anybody know where they should be fitted?  !@#

2) I need to replace the Magna-Flip sign on my TZ machine, is it possible to buy bolts that have a head that looks like a rivet, or would I be better off buying one of these kits -> http://pinbits.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=10&products_id=72!@#

Cheers,
Matthew

There is nothing on a TZ that even slightly resembles the small plastics, possible marketing ploy 'buy our 7 piece kit' with 5 useless pieces  &^&

I would stick to rivets as I like the original look, but other than small button head screws, you could use dome head socket screws like these:

Pop down to your local fastners shop and have a chat with them.

Oh well, I really only bought the set for the 2 large plastics anyway, and the set wasn't much more expensive than buying the large plastics on their own so no biggie.

I would like to use rivets too, but I don't have the right tools or skills for riveting nor the rivets themselves. I was hoping there would be something like those dome head screws but without the socket hole i.e. a smooth head that looks similar to the original rivet head, albeit a bit bigger  *!@

You should send them an email about the plastics and find out. I'd be interested to know

I've never seen any screws like that unfortunately.

I received this response from Pam at Pinbits regarding the small plastics included in the TZ Protector Plastics set:

"We make the clear set from the original drawings for TZ.  No one knows for sure where all the small pieces go.  I have two small pieces on the front ends of my Magna Flip Playfield (the ball can sit between the posts) and I believe one should fit on top of the rocket plastic but the post is missing.  Perhaps the design was changed before production… I don’t know I am only guessing.

Who ever figures it out wins a prize."

Hi Matthew

At the risk of stating the obvious, firstly be SURE to reprofile/adjust the "Camera shot" flipper to eliminate airballs which cause the initial breakage. I cheated and Araldited the new Magna Flip sign back onto the bracket using the original rivet heads for appearances (nobody will ever know?)
Thanks to my mate Chillie I now have access to a rivet kit (I am too stingy to buy one) if the Araldite fails I will go this route. However the sign has sat happily for the last 4 years using the "cheat" method.
The other plastic bits issue is is a complete conundrum to me. Hope this helps.

Doubt it Matt, Pam and Martin at Pinbits are absolutely first rate - as her email reply shows.

I've needed to have quite a few plastics done with rivots (T2)...I just got it done at Marks.  They've got the correct tools there as well for a local option.
