GOTTLIEB MAGNATRON
« on: April 05, 2009, 12:07:07 AM »
Me again.
Few to many JWs and not ready for bed so here is another restore.   As previously mentioned i get my son to help strip  playfields and clean all the posts with a toothbrush as thanks i gave him $100 and took him shopping all he wanted was stupid rubber dinosaurs and rubish that hasnt been seen since he got it home. So another purchase from Mark C i decided id give it to my son for christmas for his help. (Something from me instead of santa getting all the credit)   The catch was he had want to do it up or it would just sit there.  Pinball machines are very hard to hide but luckily i had 5 or 6 spare to stack around it untill xmas.  Wrapped it xmas eve which was not easy as i have trouble wrapping a small box lol.  Backglass was in great condition cabinet had no glass and had been sitting on its side and getting covered in pink overspray. Playfield looked very rough but no reall damage to be seen.  Sorry about the photos only just looked at them i figured it was his pinball machine so he could take the photos.  Had to show you anyway lol for some reason he really loves the old machines that have "its more fun to compete" for some reason and look at the last photo

You know there is just something about this game.

Used to love playing Duotron (the 2 player version) during the mid 1970s.

The backglass art is stunning and so different to anything else from that period. Maybe Gordon Morison took something different that day before he started painting.

This game also doesn't rate that highly amongst most collectors but I think it rocks! How do you find it Daniel?

Hey Tony
I enjoy playing this one especially love the ball trapped in the middle.  Only complaint is i think it could have used some drop targets

Being a Keeper everything was removed if its not a keeper i usually leave the popbumper ans ball return section on unless a repair is needed

The mylar was yellow and had to go.  So i stole the wifes hair dryer (im sure i use it more than she does)  and started removing the mess in the first picture you can see the pink overspray which was over the entire right hand side of everything as the cabinet must have been on its side.

Nah, looks reasonably tidy with everything off.

And the finished article.  Still needs the outside of the cabinet tidied up and few other little bits but there for heath to do on his own time. Unless i get impatient
