Lights...Camera...Action! (Melbourne)
« on: April 05, 2009, 08:20:14 AM »
No, not another Coconut Island movie, but a pinball machine. I am constantly amazed by titles I have never heard of - but this one looks very interesting. It rates highly over at IPDB, and is reasonably rare to boot (production run of 1708).

Shame about the playfield on this one http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Lights-Camera-Action-Pinball-Machine-fully-working_W0QQitemZ290307282515QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_15?hash=item290307282515 and the cabinet looks faded to me. What do you think it will go for?

If you were keen, there's always a NOS playfield at PBR you could buy -

We diddn't get much in the way of Gottliebs in that period. Apparently a a pretty decent game too.

I am guessing this will go too high to make it worth it anyway.

Interesting. This one just came up for sale in my little town today:
http://craigslist link

I played this at the pinball hall of fame in Vegas and remembered liking it for some reason but couldn't remember why. I think it may have simply been the novelty of the animated gunfight thing in the backglass. I'm a sucker for animated backglasses.

The one in the above link has the topper too, though from what I hear the glare is more distracting than anything. I'm kind of a sucker for toppers also, and glare is just part of pinball, so I think I'd like having that too. I'll go pick it up and crate it for shipping fer nuthin' if anybody down under wants it. Likely cost prohibitive though. US $1200 = quite a bit Aussie I think, even these days.

(c&p of craigslist ad):
This is a very nice and i do mean nice gottlieb pinball machine Lights Camera Action i think the year is 1990 Gottlieb is the premier name in pinball i have the insturction book all lights work very nice working machine i have had 0 issues with this pinball machine. This is a very hard to find machine almost rare if you find one so dont let this chance go buy to own a great fun machine. Call jim *** *** **** not looking to trade for anything thanks for looking.

'Fess up, Bumper Dave, did you lend them this pin?

Did you get a look at the playfield? The photos make it look pretty bad.

Pin ended up going for $1450. Yes the guy doesn't know his pinball is famous Haha.  Deliberately closed in on the photos so there was no hiding the wear, touch ups.  It is a good pinball to play, I also remember playing it at hall of fame in Vegas and thinking it was a really fun pin.  No Gottlieb's of this era were bought into the country sadly so there are many titles most have never seen. A lot of them are quite good fun.  We also sold a "Diner" to a guy in Adelaide a year ago and his pin was in the Toyota commercial with the cat people in the abandoned wherehouse if you can remember.  I never got around to telling him either his pin was a star.
