Lady Luck Restoration .. Progress update
« on: April 08, 2009, 09:40:00 PM »
Gday all,
Time to start a thread on resto of my 1968 Williams Lady Luck that I bought last week.
Play meter is on 39334 .. as usual you wonder is that total plays or is it really 139334.
The PF appears to have never been mylared (not even Pop bumpers) at least none on it when I bought it.
Game will need the usual ie .. new rubbers, globes , Pop Bumper tops, bodies and skirts, new flipper bats and don't know what else yet. All parts will be disassembled , cleaned and lubed where appropriate.
Hoping to source a better BG from the US (see my other thread in general discussion for a pic of the current BG )
So far I have stripped the PF and given it an initial clean (no Novus or wax yet)..

.. or 239334 plays !

Certainly looks the goods so far. I'd assume it would look great once it is buffed.

Here's the area where in my haste to clean I suffered some paint loss . Should have waited till the next day and bought some Shellite . Wondering do I redo the lines lightly in pencil, paint, then do the lines in black pen? I haven't done touch ups before.

I think the PF gurus will know more than I will - but I think you can get away with just filling the cracks with paint as a "quick fix".

You are taking the pictures without the flash off ? They are a little out of focus.

Another question .. this game is a US import so I need to mount a step down transformer.
For those of you who have done this, what have you found is the best spot for it ? it's just sitting on the front cross member at the moment .. is this the spot ?  ^&^
What about heat with the 2 trannies so close to each other ? Comments welcomed please

I think the stepdown transformer should be fine where you have placed it.

I'm still working on cleaning the mechanicals and switches in this game so no exciting pics to show of that, but today thought I'd finish cleaning the PF.
Here it is now after being cleaned 3 times , followed by light going over with ME + alcohol, followed by 2 applications of Novus 2.
My 1st attempt at touch ups still to be done.
