WHAT SHOULD I DO WITH THIS? (Another one almost saved)
« on: April 12, 2009, 01:00:31 AM »
Hey Guys just finsihed my questionaire and got me thinking where i should go with this machine. What are your thoughts.

Backglass is stuffed, Boards average (Really bad battery acid damage) Missing a driver Display and a display also the transformer has been cut out?  Playfield and cabinet look in good shape which is why im stuck.

Ill post some pics in the morning

Not knowing what game it is yet I would save do everything to save it.

Once she is parted out she is gone.

If it's 'in the way' in your shed offer it the chance to live here - the backglass sounds like it may be the only thing holding it back but that can also be replaced with some patience and some cash.

Having read the questionnaire I am guessing he is talking about World Cup (Williams 1978?).

Here are the pics as best as i could get them. The acid damage is that bad it ate the legs off the battery holder lol.  What are the chances of finding a backglass for this?  Boards can be repaired with hard work and cash as tony said last night

Here are some pics of the boards hard to see but the acid corrosion has spread over most of both boards

The way I see it - You have a great restoration project. The backglass is an issue - but one may pop up on eBay, or someone might have one. The MDB may set you back and if the boards are in fact damaged through corrosion, then it MAY get expensive.

Really depends on your patience - Do you want to wait for the glass ?

DON'T PART IT OUT - Before offering it as a complete machine here.  &&

I have spare master display boards and driver boards which will be easier to repair but the Cpu scares me a bit something about this game has its own flipper roms or some crap?  It is in to good condition body and playfield wise to scrap but if i do decide to not fix it ill offer it here as a whole machine

The ROMs are all readily available for download, including the flipper ROM - but don't ask me why it was white? I have seen white ROMs before so it just could have been the fab plant that batch of ROMs came from, and any rightly sized EPROM would work.

Well i persisted with this game held onto it until i could find all the parts needed and repair what was needed.

And im sure a few of you will be glad i didnt part it out.

Its not working 100% but its boots up and i can start a game all playfield mechs are semi siezed but are fired when needed everything scores only issue is the lamps are not working as they should which will be driver board issues.

New PIAs all round so ill look elsewhere for the fault  ^^^
