Very Sad News - Norm Clark passes away

For the younger guys he was a legend in pinball design through the 1960s and 1970s - he designed classic games such as Klondike, Apollo and Doodle Bug. All up he designed 65 pinballs for Williams. He moved to Bally to oversee their design through their golden period of 1977 - early 80s

R.I.P. Norm - you now join Ed Krynski - another legend no longer with us

That's really sad - Norm was a household name in Pinball, and as Tony said - is a legend.

Sad news all round..... i get the feeling that there wont be many of the legends around for much longer, all the guys that were responsible for the hey day of pinball are tumbling like dice.
But with the restorations taking place and the enthusiasm of collectors, the work of guys like Norm and Ed will be around for many years to come..

I sat with Norm and his daughter for an hour or so at expo in October and although he looked really really sick, (he couldn't move much more than one arm and his half his face) he still had his full faculties mentally (Although he had difficulty speaking) and was very very nice. We discussed his designs and his passion was still there and he really loved that people were appreciative today of his designs. It was a suprise to most that he even made Expo and I think we all knew we would not be seeing him again. A real towering force in pin has now gone. I think he was 85 or 86.

Nothing sad about it, just celebrate their contribution to pinball. They live through their wonderful work, which we can allways enjoy.

Anyone who has contributed to pinball in the way Norm has i feel should be recognised to the people in the hobby.

Thankfully Michael Shaloub has done this in one of his books...

Michael recognises and gives praise the right people and Norm was one of these people.

Without people like Norm the hobby would have stayed in the bagatelle format !

Yes and with Kordek at 97 and Neyan's 91 they will not be with us for too much longer either sadly.

Yes, sad news. But, his legacy will remain. We have to thank him and all his fellow pinball friends for their huge contribution to our hobby.
