Centaur - what's this cable?
« on: December 13, 2014, 12:29:36 PM »
Hi guys this cable runs between the squawk and talk board and the say it again board on my Centaur. Any ideas on where to be to get another. I don't know what all the silicon is doing on this one but assume there has been a problem holding something in place. I don't know if this has anything to do with it but there is no reverb on the speech which I hear is a fairly common problem on this game.

Connectors are no worries but I don't understand what the deal is with the cable used between the connectors.

Don't worry Dan it's not just hard to tell in the photo, it's also hard to tell when it's right here in front of you.

There seems to be a wire running through the middle of the cable and an other just under the outer sheath of the cable.

Just popped into to say that this game is an absolute cracker and would love to see some pics for me and others of the game. Artwork, gameplay and sounds are absolute top notch. Only ever played on a simulator and it is totally addictive on that.
Bad move human!
If it isn't broke, it isn't pinball.

If the sound is going it is unlikely the cable is the problem.  Lack of reverb usually means the SAD4096 echo chip is cactus and these are pretty much unobtainable.  Easiest solution is to fork out for an aftermarket reverb board, but they are not cheap either.

Thanks for the feedback. The sounds are all fine, they just don't have the reverb. Must be the echo chip then.

Yes it defiantly a cracker, I'd played it on a simulator as well and thought it was pretty good but then when I played the real deal and couldn't get enough of it. I had to track one down, It's number one with a bullet in my mind. I'll get some pictures up later today.

Seen refurbished board at Ks Arcade O/S for $299.
If you don't remember the 70s then you were on drugs.
If you remember playing pinball in the 70s you were having a good time.
If you don't remember anything,  then read about it here,

Nice price.
Pinball stuff always seems overpriced. But that's a great price.

Yes I thought it was pretty reasonable. Considering that if you really want one then you don't have much choice anyway.

The board I googled on ksarcade looks different to the one on big daddy, obviously the reason for the huge price difference.
