Sequel verses original
« on: November 10, 2015, 09:36:39 PM »
Do any sequel titles beat the original?
in my opinion Centaur beats Centaur 2. Firepower beats Firepower2. On the fence about Black Knight and Black Knight 2000 (both great games). Can't comment on the Pinbot series but I'm told bride of Pinbot is pretty good and unsure about the Highspeed/Getaway as its been years since I played them.
What have I missed and which do you think are better?

Fun idea for a thread, there have been so many sequel games. Like films, the sequels often rely on the theme to win over the masses rather than being themselves special. Well Godfather 2 excepted.....

I am the biggest AFM fan there is, had mine for 12 years. Agree AFM is the winner of the AFM/RFM war, but these games are so different other than theme - it's like comparing an EM to a DMD era game - aside from flippers and balls, they are worlds apart. RFM is a fantastic game in an entirely different way. The Godfather 2 of pinball sequels.

Bally Rolling Stones and Stern Rolling Stones = Both lemons.

Bally KISS and Stern KISS = Iconic Bally and a solid Stern release.

DE Star Wars, Sega Star Wars Trilogy and SWEP1. DE is my favorite of the three.

Bally's Eight Ball, Eight Ball Deluxe, Eight Ball Deluxe Limited Edition, Eight Ball Champ.

Eight Ball Deluxe is the clear winner and a true pinball players table.

All have great backglasses.

Don't forget Hankin's Empire Strikes Back.

Elvira and the Party Monsters and Scared Stiff. I'd throw Scared Stiff in the ring as the best sequel pin of them all.

Have both of these machines and would have to agree.

I'm pretty sure that Centaur and Centaur II are the same apart from the cabinets, so would not be any difference in game play.

I'm also one of the few. T3 is an awesome machine. Much better than T2 in my opinion.
