Perfect size screen for a Williams widebody cab?
« on: March 27, 2016, 11:25:47 PM »
Hi guys, I know there might be a few different opinions on this subject, but all are welcome :)
I've built a Williams widebody cabinet for my VP build and are wondering what would be the perfect size screen for the playfield. I don't mind uncasing it. Internal width of the cab is 595 mm, I can rout out a groove each side if need be, as I'd like as much screen visible as possible.
Regards Bren

g'day Bren

probably not that many experienced people here to help you, check out this thread though

as for a tv, hidef of course but probably one with a gaming mode as a menu feature to handle the faster frame rates of games

cheers

A decased 46" inch will fit in as a widebody preferably from one of the better brands.

Check out the hyperpin cabinet section of the hyperspin forums if you need some pointers as there are plenty of builds over there to draw inspiration from.

Glad to see those pinball leg sets are getting put to use, DC.   *%*

I've finally gotten hold of a suitable screen, a 46" Samsung series 6. With some trimming of a cosmetic bezel and routing the cab on both sides I've achieved a great fit. Although I've still got to finish making the coin door and some tweeking of some of the tables I can now finally play the machine.

Hey Bren,

Have you combined PinMAME with regular MAME ?  Is that the reason for the joystick and button controls. Is that your design or can I find it somewhere on the net. It looks brilliant.

I haven't installed Mame on it yet Dan, I am looking at installing that as well as a jukebox. The lockdown bar I just bent up and drilled to suit the cab (not googled lol ). I still need to fold up a coin door and i shouldnt be too far off finished apart from the computer side of things. Thanks for the compliments

Nice cab, did you make the coin door in the end or use a real one.

Myself I used a real one, used 4.5cm square backlit arcade buttons with picture inserts that looked like coin slots.  Using these for the credit buttons.  Looks trick.

I use a 42” second hand commercial led monitor, very rick colour and awesome viewing angle.
