"Can Crusher" Pin - looks like a WNBJM style game by Stern
« on: June 25, 2016, 08:47:36 AM »
Don't know much about this game other than these 2 pictures. Heard it is possibly Dirty Donny art which is a 70's style throw back and cool. The layout looks similar to a Whoa Nellie so could be a retro game from Dennis Nordman that has been quietly working on another game for a while.

It isn't the game that Dennis and Greg are working on, but , yes it is the same layout as WNBJM with new artwork and call outs. No crate though.
There will be a few different themes using the nellie platform in the future too. ( if corporate entities want to invest )
I like it as it truly is a unique, addictive layout which will hook new players into the game.
If it isn't broke, it isn't pinball.

Stern have released there next pin being PBR Can Crusher, but no price and no news on where to purchase it from.

ELK GROVE VILLAGE, IL – July 13, 2016 – The Pabst Brewing Company, makers of Pabst Blue Ribbon beer (“PBR”), today proudly announced the debut of its new PBR- Themed “Can Crusher” pinball machine. The new PBR machine will make its debut at Comic-Con International in San Diego on July 21st through July 24th at booth 501. The game was developed in partnership with Stern Pinball, Inc., the world's oldest and largest producer of arcade-quality pinball machines

The “Can Crusher” pinball machine captures the iconic nature of the PBR brand with a retro game design, dynamic eye-popping art by artist and pinball phenomenon Dirty Donny and music by hard-hitting heavy metal band Red Fang.

The debut of this machine will not stop with its arrival at Comic-Con. Following Comic- Con, PBR will showcase the exclusive machine at several other venues including concerts, barcades, high profile events, and other community activities.

“To partner with Stern Pinball on the ‘Can Crusher’ and have a superstar artist like Dirty Donny and music from Red Fang was exactly what we set out to do when we wanted to make a pinball machine the PBR way. The game does a great job of capturing the essence of our brand,” said Pabst CMO Dan McHugh.

If this machine was half the price, I'd consider one. Just too much money for me. Looks awesome though.

It is a re-themed WNBJM.

Is this how you make use of a heap of parts left over from WNBJM machines that were never built and sold? #@#

Nice slideshow of this new release from Pinheadz:

I like the concept. I'd consider it if the price was lower, but more important - would it be better to drop the EM style format and have a DMD style 4 player format ?

apparently Pabst has only requested 50 to be made - one for each state of main land USA - so doubt any will get into hands of pinball collectors anytime soon. If true they will be a real collector item.

This was always in the plan to re-theme the table design for BOUTIQUE games to various companies.
The only parts off WNBJM are basically the table design and some small components, cabinet is completely different( i.e. standard design with different head box ) and obviously the art/sound package. I believe that Whizbang Pinball still has the next pinball design to come and hope to hear what it is in 2016/2017.

WNBJM is just a beautiful piece of machinery where as this machine has sort of a main stream cabinet look.
I think one or two may make it to Aus as three Neliie's did and I am stoked to own one of them  ^^^
If it isn't broke, it isn't pinball.

from what I have read, all sales and final price is controlled by Pabst so doubt many will be available for regular pin heads. Heard that only 50 or 150 units will be made - not sure how accurate that is - so doubt any will hit Aus

out of curiousity I contacted Pabst directly and they said the machine is not available for retail, purely a contract run between Stern and Pabst and Pabst to supply to the outlets.

so in years to come will be a nice find of a rumour 50-150 machines made

Thanks for sharing that info!

Not that I'd buy one, but it's a shame Stern didn't sell these. I'm sure a few collectors would like to own one in Australia. I wonder how many Whoa Nellies sold here?
