Repairs on a shrek pinball

Hi guys, recently got a shrek pinball. I know very little about machines so id like any advice.

im looking to add leds. is that a job I could easily do myself and where is best to buy the leds?


sometimes a loud shreek comes out of the speakers, what could that be and how could I fix it?

in the playfield, the letter I in the word pinball is half faded. What is my best option here?

Great to see you found the machine your were looking for so quickly.
RTBB sell leds and there may be members here who sell them too.
Buys some samples and see what you like, everyone's taste is different.
Hard to say with the shreek from the speakers, start with the wiring and make sure there are no bad connections, it does sound like a board issue though.
I am assuming the letter I is a light??
Have you tried changing the bulb?

in regards to the leds, they seem to be all white on the shrek.
is it normal to buy all white, or colour ones to match the colour on the playfield?

the letter I is the actual lettering on the playfield. it seems to have worn through play.

Did Shrek come with a "real" knocker?

Just wondering if the "Shreek" you're hearing could be the normal replay sound on SAM systems?

Can it be disabled if thats the issue?

Many pinballs have a coil which knocks a plunger against the cabinet to make a loud "crack" noise when a replay is achieved.

Stern did away with the physical knocker mechanism at some stage and now use a "shriek" sound in the game code.

Should be easy enough to verify if this is your situation or not by either; Taking off glass and start a game and keep tripping switches until you reach replay score; or set replay to a very low level from the adjustments menu and play till you reach the required score.

That is actual playfield wear. The screen printing has worn away. Try searching for insert decals family guy. Problem is most printers don't print white so may be impossible. Only other option is have a professional touch up with paint then clear coat

Some people have used water slide decal paper to restore missing/worn insert artwork.

This is probably your only option apart from Marty's previous suggestions.

You can get clear and white decal paper. 

Covering the area with a Mylar patch may also be useful.

Ive spoken with a friend who is a printer and he can do it. So is it just a stick on? Can i just perl off the current letters?
