Transferwise
« on: August 10, 2017, 01:00:38 PM »
I started using Transferwise to avoid the long wait at the bank to send Money overseas. So far, so good. Low fees, the "real" exchange rate and 24-48 hours processing.

Pinball Resource have this as a payment method, which saves a lot of time and fees. Just thought I'd pass it on.

Sounds like it will be very handy, especially for PBR.

I used it recently too and found it simple and quick to setup and use. Certainly makes PBR a lot more accessible when you need those specific parts only available through them.

Great news, sent cash via mail to PBR many times & stressed it would go missing, this is a way better option  ^^^

Problem is that 90% of transfers are for amounts under $1000 as there are no import taxes or GST. I often split an overseas order into parts to keep under this amount.
Transferwise minimum amount is $1000 I believe?

No minimum as far as I'm aware Gav. My order was around the $450 mark.

Well that is good to hear. My bank stings me everytime I transfer money.
Will look into it - Cheers!

I have not been to the bank to pay PBR for my last 3 orders. Exchange rate is realistic, fees are low, and I don't have to wait 2 weeks for the cheque to get there. I literally spend 5 minutes at the keyboard.

I've basically moved all bank transfers in Euro and US currencies to Transferwise, and the savings on fees and the real exchange rate is excellent. PM me if you want an "invite" from my account which will help set up your account.

just used transferwise to pay for a PBR order
a little more work than Paypal or a direct bank transfer, but the fee was less than $10
