1. Earliest pinball memory?

Ok well This would go back so far I couldnt tell you when I spotted my first one..
But Like a lot of the Sydney guys Holidays up in Forster is my biggest memory
for playing pins...and that arcade with the bowling games up the back was like
Disneyland for me at about 7yrs old...
I also remember playing some old EM machines in the pavillion of Gutamatta park(Cronulla)
when we used to go there for swimming lessons..I must have been 5yrs old...
As you know Im a rollerskating nutter so I really got stuck into pins and the video machines they had at the Rinks...so that was late 70's....
and I was a video head more than a pinhead when the 80's hit...loved to grab $5 from mum and walk down through the swamp to the taren point putt putt and throw my money into the machines...a few of us workout that if you snap off the ring on the eject hole of the coin mechs and got a bit of wire you got free credits...well putt putt was onto us with that trick BUT the operator in the arcade up at Miranda wasnt any the wiser...we would even take the money our mums would give us and change it at the counter so he thought we were spending or dosh...It all fell through when one of the guys put up like 85 credits on Burnin Rubber and the operator spotted it...that was the last time we where allowed into that arcade..lol...

2. All time favorite pin? Why?

Damn...I dont think ive found it yet...Haunted House Maybe...lol....
but favorite pins that Ive owned so far would be...
EM...Spanish Eyes...very different layout and fantastic gameplay..
SS...Probably my Black Hole...multiball will destroy your mind..
DMD...probably Flinstones...FANTASTIC shots and sounds...though I did like Wotto's Scared Stiff...

3. Favorite pinball manufacture?
MMM...probably Williams...but I think they are all pretty good really..

4. Favorite game in your collection? Why?

At the moment Black Hole......its one of a kind...nothing else plays quite the same as it...and it really has a FANTASTIC ruleset...everyone should try and play at least 10 games on one to get into it...then you will be hooked.....Must play one more game and get multiball..lol..

5. How long have you been collecting?

Around 3 years now......Ok here we go...this is the list of machines Ive had in that 3 years...for first to last...thats if I can remember....still this list may be out of date by the end of today..

TOTEM
Funland
Tri-Zone
Genie
Spanish eyes
Flintstones
.....Damn I cant remember them all or when I got them...
pinball pool
Fast draw
Roadshow
Indiana jones
Rocky & bullwinkle
Revenge From Mars
Whirlwind
Johnny Mnemonic
Black Hole
King Pin
Flash
Firepower
KISS
Twilight Zone
...Im sure there are a couple more that Ive forgotten..lol..

6. First game and how did you find it?

I did a straight swap with a mate of mine...he had a VERY nice TOTEM that wasn't working...and I swap him my homemade MAME machine for it...

7. Do you still have it?

No...some of our friends have it....but would love to buy it back...lol..oneday

8. What are you currently working on?

Well more Mick B working on it at the moment...or trying to get him to work on it..lol...but I will be doing a playfield swap for my Black Knight soon...and DAMN it should be SWEEEEET when its done....it will be my pride and joy Im sure...

9. Most wanted game to add to your collection?

Haunted House.....But Ive been told I need a Hercules to be a true collector...lol...or maybe 2 of them

10. Best all time bargain game added to your collection?

You all know what that one is....do I need to spell it out...
K I S S  for $1500...

11. Worst ever miss – tell us about the one that got away!

I should have bought that Haunted House like 8 months ago that Pinball Joe had on ebay...what a fool I am...

12. Worst ever purchase – tell us about the game you wished you never bought
Twilight Zone...sorry to the TZ lovers out there...just not for me...

13. Describe your collection
A couple of DMD's...one Pinball 2000 and a heap of classic SS machines...I seem to be going down the early SS path...
14. Describe your gamesroom
Its not a gamesroom....its a Games garage..lol...full as a boot and Im going to extend the back of the garage...will start on it today...so I can fit 3 more pins in...Or even maybe 2 more pins and a nice Cocktail machine...still thinking about that..
15. Do you have other games other than pinball?

Atrai 2600  Wii  PSP  and one of Dales desktop mame controllers with mame built inside....Play visual pinball now and then..
16. Where can you see the hobby in 10 years?

Well Im thinking its going to get bigger and bigger...Since Ive started Ive had friends and family buy a machine either from me or from Ebay ect after playing my machines...and then they have told me that there friends after playing there machines want to buy one..so its a snowball effect as far as I can tell...and now with new boards to buy for the older machines it is going to make life a whole lot better...bring on the Pascal boards for the system 80's I say...The biggest thrill for me is to have my meets...Machines are made to be played...Its all about fun with your mates...Pinball and Video machines would never have been any fun back in the day if its wasnt for your mates around...and that is the same today...and in the future..thats what makes PINBALL
Cheers..

Fun read Paul !

A common thread is the fact that in the old days - $5 would last you a couple of hours in the arcades. Now it lasts 2 games of 3 balls !

Ok ...this is from Louise...

1. First time you saw a pinball machine
I don't remember, so that tells you how impressed I was with them. I don't recall any from England, so it must be after I met you, at Cronulla Cinema
I guess.I can't even remember what it was, probably Peter Pan.Whoops I mean Hook.

2.your favorite machine and why??
This is hard. I have liked so many. So I shall say, old style, The Genie, I love it, but it doesn't love me back. I love the big playfield, lots of long shots, easy to understand, and jump on to have a go. Of the newer machines, I love the Flinstones, it's easy to play, got some tricky shots, it's fairly easy to get multiball. I still miss the Rocky & Bullwinkle.

3.What pisses you off the most about Hubby collecting machines
I don't usually get pissed off about it, but there are times when I see hubby carefully cleaning the playfield glass, and moment later he steps over a mess the kids have left in the lounge and won't think to clean it up. The pinballs get "professional glass cleaner" while I am using the no frills version. The kids bikes end up in the rain, as there is no room for anything in the garage. Now I am going to loose my washing lines so he can extend the garage for room for more pinballs.

4.your least favorite machine?
I  didn't like the Getaway, but now that's gone (thanks Dave!!!) I hate the Firepower. It's really borring. There's nothing to make me want to keep playing it, it's my mission to get rid of that one next ( any offers - just let me know) Also I want the Kiss to go, as I'd love to go on a big shopping spree.

5.whats better playing pinball or shopping for a new handbag
Wow, that;s a tough one. Shopping for jewellery is more fun than both. I would have to say pinball, because I only get to shop for a new bag once a year!!!

6.any advice to other wives that have pinball collecting husbands...??
My advice would be if you can't beat them, join them! At least this way your man is at home, not out all night at the pub, or at the footy. He can't generally hurt himself on the pinballs, so it's safer than some sports. Join in every now & then, they are good fun. If you get 2 pinball machines they will start breeding. New balls make for cheap father's day presents, and are greatly appreciated.
