Forum Issues - Please Read
« on: July 03, 2024, 03:14:02 PM »
The Forum software version has fallen behind and there appears to be several issues according to Hostgator support. I have spend half a day working with tech support as it now appears a the site needs upgrading and security updates that cannot be applied one by one.

What appears to work ok is using Firefox and logging into "www.aussiepinball.com" - The home screen is broken, but you should be able to login and view threads with photos. That's what I have used in the last couple of days to update Resto threads. You can reply with smilies etc. This seems to be a "workaround" until I can get my head around how to approach this.

Logging in using other browsers may or may not cause issues, but they ARE at my end - no photos and no "smilies" or toolbar when replying to threads.

If you want to reply here with your experience, go ahead. I need to work out what browsers are having problems. Some are security / SSL and some are viewing photos.

There needs to be a fair amount of work done, and I don't have the skills or the time. So if anyone knows a Tech that can assist, I'd be very grateful. I'm going to try the RTBB Webadmin, but I don't think his expertise is in this area.

Yes - there are problems, and the approach will be a complete upgrade.  @@^

Can't help except to say that I use google chrome and your pics are not showing.

I posted a pic of Lost Worlds new flippers, and that is showing for me.

If you use ".com" you won't see the pics. If you use ".com.au" (with the broken front page) you will see the pictures. The pictures are hosted on my website, not here. External links are not working unless you use ".com".

The photo you posted is hosted on this server, so it will always work. When you reply, do you see a toolbar with smilies ?

When i look up .com.au all i get is the broken front page, following any of the links returns me to .com and i have the same issues.

I have no smilie toolbar, no.

Seems like you are saying that all you have to do is add the pics to the page where you are posting if you want others to see them, same as we all have to. do

You can still login to the "broken" ".com.au". Missing the toolbar and smilies means that mod / package is not working for some browsers. We know the issues is that the site needs upgrading, and then the security modules that allow links to be active will work.

No, I can't.

Logging in (or any other link on the .au site) takes me straight back to the .com site, as I said earlier, and your pictures still do not show.

Anyone else want to provide feedback ?

Can you see photos in resto threads and / or the toolbar with options and "smilies" while replying to threads ?
I need to know if I'm going to update the site myself or pay someone to look at it. Most Techs I've been speaking to don't have experience in forum software, so I might be forced into updating myself - which I'm happy to do, but I need to know what is not working.
