GTB Decagon score reels not turning properly
« on: July 02, 2009, 10:04:12 AM »
Hi there

I have gone through the fun process of disassembling, cleaning and putting back together all of the score reels on a GTB soccer

These appear to be the later type used by GTB and the internal parts are plastic/nylon reather than metal.

After being cleaned, most turned fined on actuation.

However, the tens and hundreds units are quite sluggish in that they will turn when actuated however will not complete the revolution.

I did not want to add lubrication to the parts as I think this will create a bigger problem - however do these nylon parts need lubircation - there were gobs of something on the reels when I cleaned most of them

Could it be the return spring?

Any other ideas?

Thanks

Ric

Hi Ric

Total Newb at this myself, but had a similar problem when I cleaned my score reels. One was kind of working, but sluggish and digits not quite lining up in window. Found I had the cog and keyed slider that actuates it out by one tooth. Not sure if this is same as your problem?

Cheers
Dave

Hi Dave - thanks for your post - I have made sure the cog lines up each time but that is a very good point

Daniel - I remembered your post from a while back and checked it before my post - I have pretty much done everything you recommended, and had a bit more cleaning to do as the coil plugers were covered in soot

It seems I need to replace the springs - can you just buy these at a hardware store? Am I looking for the length of the spring or number of turns?

That's the best bet - Also check the contacts are adjusted correctly and not providing too much resistance to the rotation of the score reel itself

Thanks again for the replies - I think this will need replacement springs - i checked and slightly adjusted the EOS switch but there just doesn't seem to be the return

Thanks again

Ric
