GNR
LAH
TFTC
TOMMY
STAR WARS
JP

lah  is prob the best bang for buck, i picked mine up for $1000, 2 years ago,it's paid for it's self twice over now,(theroretically), eg over 2000+ games at $1 a game + i still have the  machine to sell at the end of the day, can't loose  %.%

for a keeper value wise GNR-  only if you like the music  (im a huge GNR fan) so will never sell mine

I wouldnt class myself as a Guns and roses fan but the pin rocks! I have a very nice JP that I bought to reco and sell but have decided to keep as its a great pin. You are welcome to give it a bash if you want. DE pins are great to work on, there are some great players,as mentioned, that shouldnt be overlooked.

"Bally/Williams" is just a name - don't let the name "Data East" fool you !

DEs are GREAT pinball machines - right "up there" with some of the Ballys.

They are reliable machines and play and look as well as any of the Bally Williams.

 very true
both these companies made both good and bad games  so as Nino said you should not go on brand name alone
I found as far as the build goes that DE games are as solid as any WMS game   but then so are Gottliebs
