Put my #455 in and they are great-as some of my #47 are very close to the rear of my GORGAR BG is there a globe thats as strong as a #47 but shorter/I mean the glass bit is shorter

You could try to move the globe sockets back away from the glass somehow...
Or maybe just replace the sockets for the globes you want to be further away with sockets that have a different length mounting arm.
